DMS editor not loading

Recommended Posts

Steve Webb

I am having an issue with DMS editor not loading.  Just keeps spinning and spinning.

Have tried several things - Logged in and out, cleared cache, deactivated all plugins, but the issue persists.

I even had our host restore from a backup a week ago, when I know it WAS working, as I edited a text box on the homepage.  The restore from backup didn't help either.

Also, the front end of the site shows that the site is framed, or boxed now (whatever you call it), instead of full width as it was previously (last week).

Dev console shows that there are php errors in Google maps - file is attached.

Can someone please help?  Not sure what else I can do here...

Thanks in advance.

-Matt

Hi @Steve Webb

What version of DMS are you using? also, so you have a link to the site?

Hi Ray.  Thanks for replying.

Running version 2.2.4 of DMS.

The site is imetropol.com

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks again.

Hi Ray,

Thanks again for the reply and for your help.

Still trunning into troubles here.  I downloaded the latest version on the my-account page, which says that it's 2.2.5, but when i look at the changelog txt in the zip, it's saying it's 2.2.4.

I installed it, and Wordpress is telling me it's 2.2.4 as well.  Not sure what to do there as I don't know where else to get an updated version.

Also, I got a new API key for G maps, and placed the script in the DMS Header Scripts Fallback section, and checked the javascript console again.  It's now telling me that I have multiple API keys loading.  I have attached a screenshot.

Also confused as to why this is happening in the first place.  Nothing was changed, and the maps were working along with the rest of the site last week..

Again, and insight or things to try next would be very welcome.  I need to update the site and am at an impasse.

Thanks again.

Seems like you're missing a key for Google maps, here's how to get one: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key

Also, try updating to the latest DMS version 2.2.5

@Ray Just checking if you can help at all with my last reply, or where to turn.  I am getting very desperate here and am not receiving any reply from hello@.

Please let me know!  Thanks in advance.

Seems like you're trying to load the google maps API twice, try removing one. Do you have multiple maps instances on the same page? if so, try removing the API data from one of them.

@Ray

THANK YOU for the reply.  I do have a contact page that has three instances of the map section, showing our three locations.  This has always worked fine for us in the past; this is the first time it's giving us trouble.

I am not sure how to remove one of the API data, as I can't get into the editor to remove or edit anything.  Everything is in sections.  Is there a way to remove sections or data within the sections without using the DMS editor?

You didn't have to add scripts to the DMS Header Scripts Fallback section. Just enter the Google Maps API key in the section options: https://cl.ly/mEIl

@Ray

Thank you again.  But that's the issue that I have - I can't get to the section options, because the editor is not working.  The screenshot you sent is the section options within the editor.. mine just keeps on loading forever (attached).

I have removed the API key script.  Issue persists.  Again, there have been no changes to the maps at all before this issue started.  I merely removed some text from a Text Box section at the top of the homepage.

The next time I went to edit the site, the editor is no longer loading.  I really don't want to have to rebuild the site.. but I just don't know what's wrong here, or how to fix it.

Try renaming the maps folder to something like "maps123" it's in the DMS theme folder under "sections > maps"

@Ray  Hey Ray.  This unfortunately didn't help any either.  I don't know what else to do other than rebuild the site, which is super duper frustrating.

I have a number of legacy websites that are running on the above version of Pagelines DMS, where the template has stopped working. I am using a skeleton theme to all of them. What do I need to do to rectify this.
