[Solved] Salebar 2 problems/cons

Recommended Posts

I love that Salebar 2 was released for PL5, because I used Salebar frequently in DMS and loved it.  While Salebar 2 retains the excellent look and feel of Salebar for DMS and is also very simple to use, there are two major downsides compared with the original Salebar that I think should be resolved in order for it to be more useable and useful:

1.  The salebar covers content at the top of the page, instead of being inserted above the content.  I have our contact info at the top of all pages in the header, and the salebar appears after a 5 second lag.  But instead of pushing the rest of the content down, it covers it up instead.  This might be less of a problem if the bar could be transparent (I believe the original Salebar had a transparency option?), but even so, it still shouldn't cover up important header content like contact info.

2.  In the original Salebar, if a site visitor turned the salebar off, that would be remembered site-wide and also for future visits (probably through use of a cookie?).  But in Salebar 2, if the visitor turns the salebar off, it won't even remember that for the same page if it is refreshed, much less other pages on the website.  This is a big problem as it risks annoying customers.

Any chance these issues can be addressed soon?

If you'd like to see how I'm using it, Salebar 2 is currently enabled on our website at www.symbolslearning.com (it's on a 5 second delay so wait for it to appear).

Hi raylonet+

Thanks again, but I have one other issue with the salebar, and it may just be my error, but I can't seem to figure out how to use the "hide on specific pages" feature.  It's a bit trickier trying to locate the Page ID in PL5 than it was in DMS.  For the page that I don't want the bar to appear on, when I hover over the "edit post" button I see at the bottom of the page that the post ID is 672.  When I use the "hide on pages(s)" feature within the PL5 editor to try to hide a section and use the "add current page ID" button, it says the page ID is 70000007.  I have tried using both of those page IDs in the salebar 2 "hide on specific pages" feature, but neither of them work - the salebar still appears on that page.  Maybe neither of those page IDs is correct, but if one of them is the correct one, I'm wondering if maybe the feature isn't working as intended?  Thanks!

@robwahl

The "hide on specific page(s)" option works correctly, make sure you're entering the right page/post ID.
