Working with Featured Image in blogroll

Hi. I'm using SingleBits to place a full width version of the Featured Image on the top of each post. I also have it place the Featured Image of the most recent post, on the top of the landing page.  This presents a slight duplication because you can see both the full width picture across the top, as well as the same picture in the post summary/snippet immediately below it. I think there are two solutions.

1. Always hide the featured image from the most recent post.

2. Make the most recent post appear in its entirety.

Suggestions on how to do either, would be most welcome.

I'd go with option one and just hide the featured image you mention with css.
