Multisite subsites do not allow pro options

Recommended Posts

Jonathan Eugster

I have a multisite installation where the main site is pro activated, but none of the subsites are allowing me to change pro options. The subsites are on mapped domains.

So far I have:

1) refreshed the account

2) disconnected then reconnected account

3) network deactivated the reactivated pl5 plugin

4) deleted and reinstalled pl5 plugin

5) cleared cache / cookies

6) added recommended urls to WordFence whitelist

Some environmental factors

Network is hosted on EC2, assets served from Cloudfront CDN. DMS is also running on the network.

This is an old network with had a domain mapping plugin until recently, perhaps this is a factor?

main site url is http://mechame-env3.us-east-1.elasticbeanstalk.com/

a subsite that is not allowing pro options is http://redravendrone.com

I'm stuck, help please.

what are the domains themselves? the system should be looking at the root domain and using that for the activation.

so each site is changing to a different domain?  The system is designed to treat each differently.

How should it work in your opinion? we are considering changes to the pricing model as it relates to domains.

Yes, each subsite is mapped to a different domain. I suppose mine is an uncommon use case.

Hm... I think the solution is the treat each mapped domain (domain1.com, domain2.com) as an individual activation. That way you get around the infinite activation problem, and still allow subsites (1.domain1.com, 2.domain1.com)

I'm a little confused because the mapped subdomains were activating pro before (and counting against the account's total # of sites). Not sure if I changed something or if it was an update on your end.

I don't want to hijack, just chime in that I too will have two sites in the next week that will be moving from WPML to multisites and they have different domain names per language. As Jonathan wrote I too think that a solution could be to treat each domain as an individual activation but this would mean that for multilingual multisites we would have to buy multiple licences, so something built in to compensate for that would be great too...

ya i guess, how would you guys like for this to work?

I want to simplify everything as far as how Pro works.

I just want to add... I have one instance of a network installation with a mix a sites that are in subdirectories and others that have their own URL. In this instance all the websites are different division of a same company. They are not multilingual. So normally they would have had their own website and they should all pay for a licence. All this to say that your model for network setup must be flexible and I think you should find a way that it is up to the developers manage properly their licences.

I like the idea of being able to add domains manually on pagelines.com and having them count against the total.

As it is I'll either have to drastically change my network setup or switch to another platform.

I can't edit clients sites now that I was able to not long ago. This is unacceptable.

Please make solving this a priority.

@Jonathan Eugster allowing domain editing on pagelines.com is an interesting idea i hadn't thought of... however, multisite networks are still a fringe use case not a common one so we have to discuss this internally

      Hello,
I can't activate my Pro account on http://calcipatrimoine.theproofingcompany.fr (miror site of http://calci-patrimoine.com)
When I click on "Activate Pro" button of the Account section, nothing works.
Also, do I need to activate DMS with a DMS key in the Pagelines Updater ?
      Regards,
      Anthony

I have a grandfathered dev account and am unable to activate subsites on my multisite network.
Tried disconnecting and reconnecting account. Only main site is shown as activated.
Since pro activation has been off and on for subsites I added code to hide the pagelines watermark (bottom left image/link). Could that be flagging the account not to activate or something?
Network is on AWS Elastic Beanstalk, is there a port that needs to be open for authentication?
      TY

I'm trying to login at the plugin, but page just doesn't load. I already paid for Pro Tools and can't use it. I sent email to support and I had no answer.

My site was activated, but today I changed its url (it was on a test environment and now it's got a domain) and then my account was disconnected. I connected it again but it says I'm using the free version. Is it some kind of bug or I really need to spend another activation key?
