Platform 5 causing Errro 504 Gateway Timeout

Recommended Posts

nandorj78

Hi,

I'm having the same issue on both my sites running with Platform 5: Errro 504 Gateway Timeout.

The issues happen when I try to access this the update core page of wordress.

I suspect PL is causing this because the only thing the two sites have in common is that they both use platform 5 and also in one of them I disabled Platform 5 and I was able to access the core page.

I was just about to create a new topic before I saw this post as I'm having the exact same issue. With Platform 5 disabled my sites (2) work fine. Once enabled I get random timeout errors but mostly when checking for updates. Any help with this would be appreciated!

Error 504 explained.

You have a webserver and usually PHP running as a seperate process.

When a user visits your site the webserver connects to PHP process, PHP renders the code and passes it back to the webserver to send to the end user.

A 504 error is the webserver waiting too long for the PHP process to send data.

So in all its a server config issue.

There is no php on earth that can 'fix' a 504 gateway error, its a system issue.

So, what's the solution? Any idea?

The server support says it's a plugin issue. You say it's a system issue. I want to believe you because I trust PL service, but could you point me to a solution, please? What should I say to the support attendant? Because I have the idea that they really don't have any idea of what I'm telling them, they just read/follow a script

I cant offer you support for something I know nothing about, for example, what webserver is it? apache, nginx, litespeed? How is PHP running? fpm? mod_php?

Only a server admin with root privileges can increase the timeout variables and its different for every type of webserver.

Yes support is usually scripted.

Any idea of why this happens only when I try to access 'wp-admin/update-core.php' ?

It also gives an error message if I try yo update it automatically on this page 'wp-admin/plugins.php'

Update Failed:
 405 Not Allowed

 405 Not Allowed
 nginx/1.10.2

<!-- a padding to disable MSIE and Chrome friendly error page -->

Did it help anyhow?

I contacted support again regarding the 504 error and that what they said:

" The 504 Gateway Timeout error is an HTTP status code that means that one server did not receive a timely response from another server that it was accessing while attempting to load the web page or fill another request by the browser. Getting bad Gateway means Having many processes, youâre using too many resources. "

Does it make sense? or they are just reading out a script again?

I got the same thing from support yesterday. Are you using Bluehost?

Justhost, they are the same.

I guess it's time to look for another hosting company.
