Is Grams dead?

Recommended Posts

Following the new policies with Instagram concerning their API feed should we understand that Grams is going to be retired now that it doesn't work anymore?

It will be a tragedy if i cannot show instagram on my website, what will pagelines do to work around this policy? because i really need to display my instagram feed, it sounds very archaic and against the spirit of innovation for instagram to insist everybody must go to instagram to view a feed...it's against everything that the web was built for...

We cant work around their policy, if they decide to limit their API to just approved apps, then so be it.

Twitter did the same thing with its API and broke everything too.

I've not tested it, but I understand that you can show your own images only, not a hashtag or images you like.

Greed is fighting innovation and nobody is speaking out, its really scary if this is what the future of technology is going to be about, but there has to be a way for us to show our feed one of my site will be so boring and irritating to without my feed

Wow! So it looks like Grams is dead dead. It is really too bad it was a nice feature that I saw in many places. Currently we are developing Destination Tourism websites and most if not all competitors had that feature to make the websites more connected to their visitors.

Should not Pagelines be on top of this?

The beauty of Grams or Multigrams was that you can stream your library with embed its like you can only embed one image at a time, i will love to embed as many as i can though...

I'd love to see it repaired, too. @Simon, is there any news for you to share with us?

So, has Grams been forgotten? Does it work at all?

We went with Feed Them Social in an embed section and that did the trick.

Is it free for instagram? Does it show only my pictures? or I can choose specific hashtags?

Have a look at the plugin, in our case we did not mind paying for the premium version that we were using previously only for Facebook feeds. The developer is very responsive and really cool not unlike Simon here. ;-)

In our case we use it with a hashtag and we found it very flexible.

The Free version is here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/feed-them-social/

The documentation is here : http://www.slickremix.com/feed-them-social/

Hope it helps.

PS: I don't have a stake in the company, it is just one of the plugins that we use frequently and I've exchange with the developper.

Oh, but it doesn't work with hashtags, which was what I wanted... I guess it always worked with user feed type.

I only tried the feed which is what I have in my website.

I've been checking https://intagrate.io

Haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. Don't know if I will since I got my feed working again in the meantime.

      Hey there,

I am working on BentleyRolling.com. I used grams on MoonbodySoul.com and all the images are cropped to a square, whether they are square or 4:5 when posted on instagram, they still get cropped to a square. This looks way better than some being squares and some being 4:5. Did something change since I designed MoonBodySoul.com with Platform5? Can you help me crop all images to a square on BentleyRolling.com

      All the best,

Does anyone now what's up with grams. The API works 'cause it shows my own pics, but if I choose a hashtag, no pics shows up?
      Any ideas? Even on popular...
It says: "No Instagram items available."

Hopefully a quick and easy question.  How do I create margins in between the images in Grams?  I'd like it to look like this: http://sortedtravel.com/memoirs
      Thanks,
      J.D.

Since I installed W3 Total Cache I noticed that Grams stopped showing/fetching pictures. I wonder if this is some sort of conflict.
      Anybody experienced anything similar?

I'm using 'Grams' to try to imitate a feature of Iron Maiden's official site.
I've set up Grams to show hashtags as a feed type and then I typed the hashtag I wanted to include. So far so good. But then, I was too naive to think that all pictures would be cool and beautiful and, most importantly, be relevant for the chosen hashtag.
So, I was wondering if we can have some sort 'approve this' feature, or 'select which pictures with the given hashtag you want to be displayed'.
If you see the fanwall at http://ironmaiden.com/ you will see that everything looks beautiful. For sure they have something like what I just said above. Also, besides showing instagram feeds, it also show twitter pictures. And, apparently, there is a way to show the pictures with different thumbnails sizes, just like Platform 5 masonic grid.
I know it is not good/fair to compare one thing with another. But it seems that a 'select the pictures to be displayed' kind of thing would be necessary. Imagine if someone tags nudity or porn and you are using Grams in your company's website...
