Custom Body Classes in PL5

Recommended Posts

I would like to see PL5 give us the ability to easily add a custom body class to a page/post.

In DMS, we could do this: http://screencast.com/t/sesLB5V8V0OD

causing this: http://screencast.com/t/yEf1e4Qi1z

which resulted in this: http://screencast.com/t/czSs7VWf

In other words, in DMS we could easy create a custom body class and assign as many pages as we wanted to that class via templates. Since templates do not work the same way in PL5 as they did in DMS, we can no longer do this.

I don't know how high the demand for custom body classes is (comments are welcome) but I'm going to assume that this falls outside of the 80% mentality that PL5 was built on. So let's assume that I (or PageLines?) will have to build an extension for this. I would like it to have the same ease and simplicity as adding a custom class to a section. My question is, what would be the best method to add this option? It's probably not best to add it as a section, since it won't be visible on the page. So would the option field go somewhere else on the front end Page Editor? http://screencast.com/t/EPj6dypIG

So far the developer docs just show how to build options inside a section, nowhere else.

well yes obviously that's the standard solution. not near as simple as typing a custom name in a text field.

Shouldn't this be in Pagelines Meta Settings on each page/post?
