Template Questions

When I create a new template I am able to access it from the front end in the editor - no problem.

But - when i am editing a page in the wordpress editor, (in the Page Attributes section), I am presented with a dropdown for Templates, which include: Default, Framework A, Framework B, (C, D & E).  but I do not see my newly created template. - Nor do I see these framework templates offered on the front end. 

What are these framwork templates? and why doesnt the new template appear in the pull down?

Ideally I would like to be able to apply the new template from the wordpress edit page

WP pages have to be static php files. This approach wont work.

 

PL5 templates are unique to the system.
