the grid function is gone within post!
all workarounds within PL5 are not possible!!!

  • cloning of containers from outsinde > to inside a post/page content do not work
  • container-work within post/page content does not work (same as used outside)
  • DMS bootstrap grid has gone

Currently, cloning does not work for me either - an issue is posted in issue section.
To create a grid of sections you can add sections to the page template, adjust column width and voila you have a grid. The sections grid width can be edited in two places. http://screencast.com/t/ORjLPjAh3cj
If you want to have a responsive grid in your content you could use http://www.responsivegridsystem.com/calculator/

The cloning issues are fixed and will be in the next release. As for the 'dms grid' pl5 is not dms and pl5 does not include bootstrap.

If you want bootstrap grids then install a bootstrap plugin.

Hi Micstepl, I had the same issue when firing up PL5 and expecting the bootstrap grids to be there when writing out post and container content, it's one of the most used features for me in quickly formatting post content. I understand why PL took it out to make it 'elective' only for those who need it, but I figured out a pretty quick and free way (i.e. none of those WP bootstrap plugins you've got to pay for to remove their branding link!) to load it under a child theme, assuming you are running the Platform 5 theme with a child theme under it. Do this:

1 - Download Bootstrap 3.0 (http://getbootstrap.com/getting-started/#download) and put up the CSS (and JS folders if you want those functions) in your child theme folder. I clustered them under a 'bootstrap' folder to organize the assets in the theme folder.

2 - In your child theme functions.php file enqueue these resources to load in your child theme, I used the following method that should work on any child theme assuming you put the assets under a 'bootstrap' folder like I did; if your path in the child theme is different, just modify as needed.

function theme_add_bootstrap() {
	wp_enqueue_style( 'bootstrap-css', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/bootstrap/css/bootstrap.min.css' );
	wp_enqueue_script( 'bootstrap-js', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/bootstrap/js/bootstrap.min.js', array(), '3.0.0', true );
}

add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'theme_add_bootstrap' );

Some of this was borrowed from the suggestions on this post here (http://marcoghislanzoni.com/blog/2013/10/25/adding-bootstrap-3-0-support-to-your-wordpress-theme/) but changed to fit the child theme structure;

3 - Try out some bootstrap-pure CSS for some grid elements i.e. <div class="row"><div class="col-md-6">stuff</div><div class="col-md-6">more stuff</div></div> and make sure the assets loaded on your theme. I have NOT seen any conflicts occur yet with the native PL5 CSS or JS when loading Bootstrap assets on to the child theme directly.

I think the above is simple enough, it amazes me people out there try to make paid plugins to do this same thing, but so it goes... Hope this helps!

Nice solution. We have just been adding them to the head tags in settings>advanced  and adding this. It works quick and painless.

        First of all, sorry for my bad English.  I am developing an ecommeece with wp, woocommerce, PL5 and quickshop, and I need to do some changes in the simple product grid. I want to change the classes of some divs, but I can't find the templates.
      Also, I change the grid of the category products pages, but I didn't make it correctly.
      This is the cat archive's: http://globosdemar.com/wp/categoria-producto/camisetas-para-ninos-y-ninas/
      Can you help me?

      Hello There,
      I am working with Platform 5 and have run into an unnerving problem. I am trying to position my clients picture along the bottom of the container, so that it sits right on the bottom. After a good hour of googling and messing with the CSS I figured I would ask the question here. Below is my screenshot displaying my problem. I will need to do this frequently in the future.
      My Problem Image
      Unlike in DMS, when I add a margin to an embed or image box it simply makes the container larger while keeping the padding, I cannot have any padding or any space whatsoever on the bottom of my clients image.  Is there a way to remove all padding from the container so I can have this work across screen sizes? If not is there anyway to position an element directly at the bottom of another element in Platform 5? This seems like a basic feature and was easily attainable within DMS.
      I cannot create an image combining all these elements as it will not scale well on mobile and will make my clients logo unreadable and her face incredibly small.

      Thank you for any help,
      Perry

      Hi. I made this site: www.arvoredacidadania.org.br. In the part Quem Somos and Serviços I used different configurations (1 container and 2 texts side by side; 2 containers: each one with text; or just two texts side by side).
      The problem is the height. I tried CSS, etc, but when i change the width, change the height also.
      Any ideas?
      This picture is the example how i need to do.
      I need both textboxs with the same height.
      Regards.

      Hi,

      I noticed that PL5 uses flexbox for it's responsive grid. I think this is awesome.
      But now there's a project coming in where I know I'll have to support older crappier browsers as well. Any thoughts on this? Should I only use PL5 for project where we're focused on modern browsers? Or should I use custom CSS to insert a float-based fallback grid..?

      Thanks!
