Custom CSS VIA FTP

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?

No, the css added to the custom css box is run through the less compiler and added to your page.

If you are using a child theme you can edit the style.css or style.less files in the child theme.

So unless I am using a child theme there is no way to access the custom CSS via FTP? If I do use a child theme I would need to copy/paste the custom code from DMS into the style.css file in the child theme folder and then delete it form the DMS editor? 

Thanks for the help! I am just trying to determine how to access and edit without having to use Chrome or the built-in frontend editor.
