Blog Posts No Longer Working

Recommended Posts

Rob Thomas

For some reason the main site of my multisite has lost the functionality of its blog page.

http://imagesoferoticism.com/blog/

If you click on a non-link post (i.e. not the links Pageline allows you to set up in the "Format" menu when you edit the post, or video, etc, but set as a "Standard" post), you get no content and a page that only shows a comments field (e.g. "Leave a reply"). If you go into "edit" the post, the content shows up. But not under "view post."

I have toggled to all non-Pagelines themes and it works fine in twenty eleven, thirteen and fourteen. It does not work in any Pagelines theme (e.g. postpins, DMS, iBlogPro, etc.). This appears to be confined to this blog. None of the other blogs on the multisite are affected. I have tested with all of the plugins turned off. No effect.

Debug only returns the following message:

Notice: wpdb::escape is deprecated since version 3.6! Use wpdb::prepare() or esc_sql() instead. in /www/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3411

Interestingly enough, I played around with the Permalinks. If you set them to default something interesting happens: the "Blog" item in the menu will no longer go to the "Blog" page. It will go to the "Home" page, even though the posts page is set to the "Blog" page and the Front Page is set to "Home" in Reading. Also, this one part that becomes broken when you switch back to default Permalinks works fine when you are in the visual editor but not when you log out (then you get the Blog link going to the Home page).

For posts with actual content, you can test those titled "Smut Capital of America" or "Some Problems with Linda Williams' "Hard-Core Eroticism" which are posts 7 and 8 down, respectively, since the others are just video or linked content. Yes, this is my porn studies class. So, for example: http://imagesoferoticism.com/smut-capital-of-america/

I test my sites at the beginning of the semester and this definitely wasn't a problem before. However, that could mean this happened anytime between the end of August and now. It's too bad I didn't notice earlier. Normally, if something doesn't work, students won't say anything. So, I have to be on top of things or they use it as an excuse not to do work. It's important that I get this working as soon as possible.

I tired enabling Legacy Mode on the blog. This allowed the content posts to show up as showing full content on the Blog page, but then the newer posts that use the "link" and "video" functions from PL do not work. I also tried using PostLoop or PostPins, same result. I may have to put the content in myself and use the Legacy settings as a way to at least get things up quickly. Not sure what else to do.

This is a Multisite hosted on Flywheel. Also, I tried deleting the cache. No change.

Is there no longer support on this site?

@Simon The the content is there. It shows up under the editor. Moreover, this is content from 2-3 years ago. You can copy and paste the content into a new post. Same effect. Won't show up.

I'm not sure if Danny is still here but I'd be happy to send you or he my site credentials or a screen casts. Tomorrow is my Friday. I teach three courses back to back, 11-7 PM, but I can basically do whatever is needed Friday.

I didn't mean the content in the post

in the dms editor the wp content section is not on the single post pages so the content can't be shown

Sadly, I am mired in midterm grading. I don't have time to figure out why it suddenly stopped working and where the conflict is ... I've sadly enabled the Legacy setting and showing the full posts on blog posts with content in them.

It doesn't make sense to me. With the blog post, Smut Capital of America, for example, when you look at it in the developer settings (and it's in the editor) the html content is there.

view-source:http://imagesoferoticism.com/2013/11/16/smut-capital-of-america/

it looks completely different if you look at view-source from just clicking on the blog link (outside the editor environment).

In my experience, turning plugins off is never sufficient to troubleshoot bigger problems. You have to delete and remove the files. I'll try that (insofar as I can). In the meantime, I've returned several posts to "draft" status and converted what is left to a "standard" post (and, again, full content showing on the blog page only). At least that gives them something to work with.

I've viewed the source of that page and there is no WP-Content/PostLoop section on that page, only the comments section. If no WP-Content/PostLoop section is active no content will be shown.

Please search our forums, before posting!

as I explained, it is active when you are in the editing environment.

there is no HTML content when you look at it outside the editing environment when you click on the link.

all of the content is there, and shows up, in the editing environment, but not outside it. you would have to have the password to see how this is working.

Just by way of an update: I exported the entire site to an XML file and uploaded it to my multisite on Digital Ocean. Everything works fine.

I contacted Flywheel last Friday and have not even received an automated response from them : (

I am certain there is some conflict involving Flywheel at this point and that this is a server related issue.

I've been meaning to move everything over to D.O. anyway, this just gives me more incentive.

      Hi
Have researched this in the forum and find a couple ancient posts from 2011 and 2014 apparently for pre-DMS2?
Am using latest Wordpress  4.8.4 running DMS Version: 2.2.4 theme
When in the editor (Chrome), the page looks fine, but when logged out and viewing individual posts, they show up twice - one in the column I have setup and a second time at bottom of content page but above footer???
Each page has 2 columns, left column is biggest and contains wploop/content and comments. wpcontent loop is displaying a second time below both columns but ONLY when not in editor. While in editor, second wp content block does not appear???
https://cassclayton.com/el-chapultapec/  is a post. You can get to it from NEWS | News/Blog dropdown menu, then choosing a post.
The 2011, 2014 posts talk about going into Settings and adjusting the excerpts vs full settings, but can't find anywhere to do this in DMS???
Not sure if this is a new issue or old one i just now noticed.

      Best regards,
      John-eriK

      Hi,
I am trying to remove the sidebar areas from my child theme (pagelines.com) from the post pages on a site:
      https://staging4.talltreemusicfestival.com/2017/grand-analog/
The content is all the way to the left and very small, and the two sidebar areas are taking up a lot of space.
What I'm after is content to the left, taking up most of the space, and then a small sidebar width on the right for widgets.
I've tried selecting 'read width content' and 'full width content' in the edit screen for the WP content section, but it doesn't change.  If I try to move the sidebars (1 or 2) to the left, it doesn't change.
If I select the pagelines framework theme (not child), the two sidebars go away when not selecting them in the edit screen..
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
      Thanks in advance.
      -Matt

I've created a new post category "Success stories" with Custom Post type UI. (in order to have a different layout for a different post category - blog post one layout, success stories another layout).
New category "success stories" are "detached" from all the other posts, so they have a different layout, but the problem is that all of the success stories are also having the same exact content.
So whenever I edit content (e.g. change body text) on one of success story posts, it also changes the content (body text) for all other Success story category posts.

Question: Is there a way to retain this separate category with it's own layout, and have a different content for each individual post? I'm using Pagelins templates.
       Thanks in advance.

      Hi,
Is is possible to have different layouts for different Post categories? We have Blog posts, News posts and Case studies that all are posts, but is it possible to differentiate their layouts?
So far when I change a post layout it affects all Post type pages. Could it be done somehow with creating a separate template?
      Examples below

I'm trying to find a way to display the full content of my posts on my posts page rather than the post excerpt.
I've tried using various plugins to create a custom excerpt with no success, so I'm guessing I'll need to make the change to the theme files. That being said I'm not able to find where I would make that change. In the past I've been able to replace <?php the_excerpt(); ?> with <?php the_content(); ?>, but I'm unable to locate this in the framework theme? Am I missing something here?
