Header Image in Whitehousepro 6

Recommended Posts

lbhansen

I am not a web pro and I've been away from DMS for more then six months so I'm almost at square one. This may be a general question but I happen to be working with the Whitehousepro 6 theme.

Where is the header image defined. I want to replace it with my company logo. By "header image" I am referring to the PageLines leaf with "WhiteHousePro 6" as an image the has an underlying link to the site's home page.

(Am I asking this question in the right place? Are there some fundamentals I should learn about how to properly use the forum?)

Thanks.

Hi,

Can you provide a link to the site in question please.

Here's the link: http://playground.lbhansen.com/

Playing around, I did find that Logo in the WhiteHousePro Header config options changed the logo where I expected it to. I didn't recognize it at first because I was looking for an option that literally made reference to the default logo so I'd know it was the option to change.

Now that I have a trial logo in place, I had a caching issue. The new logo didn't appear in IE (I am doing development in Chrome of course.) The Flush Cache menu item in WP seems to have cleared that up. So at this point I have what I want related to the logo but I still need to sort out what's happening at what level of the whole system: browser, DMS, WordPress, host.

No need to respond. I'm just ruminating in type. :-)

Danny,

There is still a problem with the header image (logo). It looks okay in a computer browser (IE or Chrome). On my phone (Windows Phone 8.1) it just says "A WordPress Site".

YIKES! The reason the logo didn't appear is that I had used an icon file (.ico). IE and Chrome were able to render it. The mobile browser wasn't.

I hope you can bear with me as I ask for help and stumble on my own solutions sporadically.

Hehe, no problem. So the issue with your header image is now resolved ?

I'm able to use my own header but the WHP header section limits the image size. I'm using a 900 wide image but it's shrunk down to what looks like about 250. I suppose I could go with something other than the WHP header but I don't know what I'll be giving up in terms of the menu.

It kind of begs the question: what am I getting with WHP6?

The image in the WhiteHouse Pro header is for a logo image and not a branding image, this is the reason as to why the image is being reduced in size. If you want to use a branding image either add a background to the Canvas area or use a MediaBox image.

I have been working with DMS since it came out. It does almost everything I want to see in a themeing system. The only issue I have found is when trying to create a layout that has a full size featured image with the text coming over it slightly. I have achieved something close, although I am sure with some help I can get the full effect.

So far my site looks like this: http://www.cgmagonline.com/game_review/assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-review.html

I am trying to achieve a look that is more similar to this:  http://www.polygon.com/2013/10/29/4861080/assassins-creed-4-black-flag-review?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews

If anyone has any ideas how I could do this that would be amazing!

Hello, I´ve followed the steps of the tutorial "Creating a Branding Area"

In mediabox there are two ways for setting the image:
      1.- Mediabox image.
      2.- Text and Embed HTML.

I´ve inserted the image url (http://go2ilhagrande.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Go2-Header-1200.png) in the "mediabox image" field: The image looks ok, but, of course, it has no link.

I want the image link to home, so i deleted that field and tried the second alternative (as descripted in the tutorial)

I´ve inserted next line in the "Text and Embed HTML" field

      <a href="http://go2ilhagrande.com"><img src="http://go2ilhagrande.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Go2-Header-1200.png" alt="Home"></a>

The image was set and the link works but a top padding of 20px appeared in header.

I want the image with the link and without top-padding.

      Anyone can help me?
      Thanks, Eugenio

      Hi there,

I've read a lot of other posts on this topic but can't figure it out.

Thanks for reading this in advance!

Is there a way I can make my header image taller? Is there a custom code I can plug into my CSS section?

      here's my site: wearflatstodinner.com

      thanks!!

I'm stuck at the very basics of this platform. How do I add a global header image. The only option I seen was to edit the preinstalled "Header" bar but that did nothing. Already frustrated and this should be a simple task. HELP!
