Enabling Product Pages to Act like Product_Category pages and/or Tailor Product_Category Pages (WooCommerce/DMS)

Recommended Posts

Afternoon Peeps

I trust this all finds you well?

I’m not sure if my problem is WooCommerce related or DMS template related, so I am trying both forums in the hope of a resolution of my problem.

The Challenge:-

Provide customer with Product Pages that relate to their Product_Category along with similar functionality (Sub Category menu on the right of Page)

http://sportsgallerie.wpengine.com/product-category/boxing/

I would like to replicate the functionality of the above but with a Unique Image Header for each Category Page.  Is this possible?

Or

Create specific Product Pages that have similar functionality to the Product_Category pages?

I have created the relevant pages and am using the relevant WooCommerce Shortcodes, however, these are not functioning as I would expect them to and I believe that this may be a Functions.php issue??

The page in question is: http://sportsgallerie.wpengine.com/gallery/boxing-art/ ‎

The shortcode I am using to pull through the relevant products (63 in total) is:-

[product_category category=”boxing” columns="3" order="ASC" per_page="20"]

Issues:-

  • I am not getting the Sub-Categories, 17 in total (as I would with the Product_Category option)
  • I am only getting 1 page (20 items) and no option to show more pages or products (the more pages /previous items is missing from the bottom)
  • Again I would refer you to the http://sportsgallerie.wpengine.com/product-category/boxing/ as this is very much how I want these pages to function.

I can’t seem to find anything on searching the net that relates specifically to my issues, so I can only assume that this is potentially a DMS/ or more likely user issue!

All advise/assistance greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Unfortunately, you can not do this with DMS Framework out of the box due to not being able to assign individual templates on a category by category basis. Therefore, to achieve the widgets i.e. subcategories etc... you will need to use a plugin such as Widget Logic. For the custom header on categories, you will want to create a custom section and use the WordPress conditional logic to show images based on a condition.

Hi Danny

That sound horribly complicated for something that should be relatively easy and 'out of the box'!  I know I am not the only person requesting similar functionality. But oh well!

Do you know why its not showing the 'More Pages' element at the bottom of the content on a normal page with the WooCommerce short code?

If the shortcode isn't working as intended, you will need to ask this question on WooCommerce support, as it is related to DMS.

Hi Danny

I knew this should be something that is 'Out of the Box'.  I just happened to stumble across this.  It doesn't do EXACTLY what I want, but it does fulfil the requirements.

It needs an additional plugin WooCommerce Category Banner https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-category-banner/

When creating the Product Categories, there is an option to add a Banner to the Category.  The down side is it is embedded in the WPContent Loop area, so, if you want a side bar you can't have it full page, but it does what I need it to for now.

Not sure if this resolves other users requirements.

I'm building a product catalog site. The featured image is set correctly, but the woocommerce placeholder image is displaying instead. If I click on the placeholder image, the featured image appears, and the featured image works fine as a thumbnail.
Please view the site here: http://www.directmat.net/product/power-lock-logo-mat/
Note: I deleted the placeholder image via FTP to see if that would inspire Quick Shop to look for the featured image. No such luck. Please help!

I'm using Woocommerce in a Pagelines framework. When I build out a product, I'm able to add images in the admin panel and the
Product Image will display on Shop page, but neither the Product Image nor the Product Gallery will display on the product's dedicated page.
      Shop: https://bendbotanics.com/shop/
      Product Example: https://bendbotanics.com/product/500mg-full-spectrum-hemp-oil-fsho/
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      Hello everyone,
I face a common problem as I can see on relevant topics with quickshop plugin.
On Product Single page of woocommerce, i use quickshop as layout. The primary photo of my product doesn't appear on the thumb slider, but the first image is the default placeholder.
Need some help not with custom script in the product description for each product.
Have a look on my website: http://lillyandsid.gr/shop/camp-things-top/

I have Quickshop installed on my WooCommerce section of this website: http://a04.125.myftpupload.com/
      Main Shop: http://a04.125.myftpupload.com/?page_id=1198
I've having what appears to be CSS issues on the individual product pages. After cleaning up any code accessible from the wp-admin, the page still appears broken. I never tried to customize it, it just came broken like this right out of the box.
You can see examples of it broken on every single product page, see here:

      Can somebody help?

Unable to attach an image that's already been uploaded.
When attempting to upload one from scratch, it gives me the error seen in the screenshot. As you can see by the Chrome Inspector, I receive a 400 error.
