Scroll Spy menu highlighting doesn't update....

Recommended Posts

Buishi

Hi there,

I'm having the following problem: I set up a scroll spy on my homepage, and put several sections throughout the homepage with .scroll-headers (for example: <h4 class="scroll-header" title="Testimonials">Testimonials</h4>). The problem is, the menu highlighting doesn't change as I scroll, only the last menu item remains highlighted. Any idea what's going on? See here:

Can you take a screenshot of the code you're using to generate the title please.

Here you go, the others are the same, just with different 'title' values.

I have just this moment tested this myself and have no issue on my test site. Therefore, you most likely have either:

1. A plugin causing a conflict.

2. Custom code causing an issue.

3. Have added a script or custom code to that template/page which is effecting ScrollSpy.

I also tested the code in both TextBoxes and MediaBoxes, both worked without any issue.

OK, I did some testing.

1. Deactivated all plugins, still no luck

2. Deactivated all scripts, nope

3. Deactivated all theme functions, didn't work either

Could it be specific to having a child theme, or to this particular version of DMS (2.1.5)?

Yeah, it is most definitely related to your version please upgrade to the latest version.

So, that produces a couple interesting developments.

Firstly, it now looks different when I'm logged in as an admin (see  below)

Secondly, it still doesn't seem to work whether logged in or not.

I am not seeing ScrollSpy looking like how you have it in your screenshot - https://cloudup.com/ceLuZJLT0LD

You must have some custom code you have added that is effecting ScrollSpy. I recommend you disable all custom code, plugins and enable DMS as the active theme. For some reason the JS that switches the active class on the ScrollSpy menu item isn't switching to the other menus when you navigate to them. Therefore, something is effecting it.

OK,

I activated the DMS theme instead of the child theme, deactivated every single plugin, made sure there was no custom code in the JS or Less boxes, and I still have the problem! No JS errors in the console, so... I'm not sure what's going on.

Could it be because of the HTML structure, maybe scroll-headers can't be in separate canvas elements?

Let me know if there's any other sort of debugging you'd like me to do. I can also give you admin or ftp access, if you would find that helpful.

All I have done is this:

Add the following to both a TextBox and MediaBox section:

<h2 class="scroll-header" title="Test 2">Test 2</h2>

When I save the changes and refresh the site, the ScrollSpy section acts as intended. Therefore, you're either not adding the HTML correctly or you have something causing an issue. Therefore, if you add the code I used above to a TextBox section and remove all sections that you have added which contain the code to populate the ScrollSpy section, then see if the code I gave above works. If it doesn't please send me a PM with the following info:

1. A link to this topic so I know what your PM is regarding.

2. A link to the site in question

3. Your admin username/password

4. Make sure all plugins are disabled.

5. Make sure all custom code has been removed, this includes HTML you may have added to sections.

That was a good idea. I did as you suggested, creating a blank page with just the scroll headers, and it worked. I then started adding elements one by one, canvas, media box, etc... to see which section broke it. The iBox broke it. Can you try, in your test, adding an iBox and see if it still works?

Unable to attach an image that's already been uploaded.
When attempting to upload one from scratch, it gives me the error seen in the screenshot. As you can see by the Chrome Inspector, I receive a 400 error.

Ik like to use the following Plug-in in my DMS Theme, but can' get it to work. My DMS Editor is not loading anymore if I paste this short code in a page, textbox or mediabox: [wpdatatable id=1]
      Plug-in: WPDataTables Plug-in
      Shortcode:  [wpdatatable id=1]
      Website: http://gentleclinics.nl/prijslijst-heren/

Anyone experience with this plug-in and DMS.

I recently downloaded the latest DMS2 update. Since the download, I lost front end ability to update. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I originally purchased, I believe, a 3 site licence for DMS2. The new account interface does not reveal any of this information.
How do I know how many licences I am entitled to? How do I reset one for a new website? All it says now is that I don't have any Pro licences?
