How can I exclude categories from the blog feed?

I thought this would be simple. First I looked at the standard options for the blog in Pagelines in Chrome. I didn't see anything. Then I searched the forums for exclude category and didn't find anything.

We are going to have contestants able to submit blog posts (I haven't figured out exactly where or how yet). But when they do I want to assign them a unique category and exclude them from the regular blog feed. I KNOW I did that in DMS 1 but maybe it's not available anymore? I only see the few options shown in this capture. Surely there's a way to do this?!

Thanks,

Sheila

Morning Sheila,

Have you thought about doing this with custom post types and maybe powerloop on its on page. Just an idea

You can try the following plugin (untested) - https://wordpress.org/plugins/simply-exclude/

Or you will need to use a filter, see this article for more information - http://www.wpmayor.com/how-to-hide-or-remove-categories-from-a-wordpress-homepage/

Also, there was no option in DMS 1 to exclude categories via the WP-Content/PostLoop section. Therefore, if you did achieve this, you either used a plugin or custom code.

In my option, if you want users to submit articles/posts to your site and do not want them on the main loop. Then I would suggest the same as Aires and use a custom post type. To allow users to submit posts, you can look into Gravity Forms which has this features. You will probably want to use some kind of Roles and Capabilities plugin to restrict this to a users from a certain user group.

Please search our forums, before posting!

Thanks both of you. Aires I thought about CPT but have never used them so it'd be new territory. I don't know about Powerloop. And Danny, thanks for the links. I'll have to see if I can figure out where I thought I'd done that before and see how I did it. In the meantime I'm now thinking that a subdomain on this site for the contest will remove several of the issues I'm facing. I'm already using Ultimate Member which includes dealing with the roles issue. I'm not sure if I can integrate Gravity Forms with it or not. Might try that. And I also just discovered Gravity View which is a premium plugin that works WITH Gravity Forms to setup directories, etc.But that would replace using Ultimate Member which I'm already deep into.

Thanks for the pointers. It was very helpful.

I am trying to get iBlogpro6 running under https. All is fine but I am getting a mixed content warning:
Mixed Content: The page at 'https://s11r.co/' was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure stylesheet 'http://s11r.co/content/uploads/pagelines/compiled-css-core-1464872768.css'. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS. The compiled css file are delivered in http not https. I tried toi delete them several times but the error is still there.
Do I need to fix something in the theme folder? What? Where?

      Hi
I'm in trouble with a site using iBlogPro 6 with the DMS editor. Developers told me to ask support in forums. Here we go…
I try to make a page with tabs containing a kind of dictionary with some terminology. I am saving and refreshing all the time but the problem is, in some point, the changes aren't saved and I get the three default tabs again as nothing happened. I did it once and again. Then I saw the problem was when I write more than 50.000 characters (or 60.000 counting white spaces).
What can I do? How do I have to configure server settings? Or is this a theme problem?
Please I would appreciate any comment about it.
      Thank you very much

I am currently using Pagelines Framework 2.4.6
I'm interested to upgrade my site to iBlogPro6
Will I be able to keep my Pagelines Framework website live and uninterrupted while building my new iBlogPro6 site?
Is there a online help guide of specifics instructions how to get this process started once I download iBlogPro6?

      Hi,

At webbdo.com site I do get validation errors: https://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.webbdo.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

      - I have disable all plugins. Still same errors.
      - I have not edited any files.

      .boxed-wrap {   -webkit-box-shadow: 0px -60px 28px -5px rgba(0,0,0,0.36);   box-shadow: 0px -60px 28px -5px rgba(0,0,0,0.36); }   #site {   background-color: #FAFAFA; } .pl-new-loop .hentry .continue_reading_link {  display: none; }    Why are those errors occurs?
