Chrome is taking forever to load WP Admin for DMS2

Recommended Posts

eglashcreative

Hi all  -

All day the WP admin on a client's DMS2 site was taking forever to load. Sometimes it would never load an admin page, sometimes it would load in 3-5 minutes. Totally impossible to get my work done.

I cleared Chrome's cache, updated it, etc., nothing worked. When I opened an incognito window, the front-end site (not logged into admin) was lightning fast.

Then I logged into the admin with Safari, and everything was lightning fast. Chrome is still trying to load all the pages. I can't edit DMS in Safari.

Any suggestions out there?  Thanks.

Hi Joe,

Chrome shouldn't have any issue loading the WordPress Admin Dashboard and DMS will not be the cause of this. Therefore, can you please send me a PM with the following so I can see this issue first hand.

1. A link to this topic so I know what the PM is regarding.

2. A link to the site in question

3. Make sure all plugins are disabled.

4. Make sure all custom code and scripts have been removed.

Danny,

I apologize for the delay in responding - other client deadlines prevailed. I logged back in to this client site's admin today and it's as bad as it was before.

I would follow your request, but the thing is, it's a live site and I can't just deactivate plugins and code. Are there alternative options here? Send you a list of plugins, etc.? Thanks.

Hi Joe,

I have performed a reverse IP check on your domain and found that there are over 700 other websites on the same server your own. Therefore, it appears you're using a hosting plan called shared hosting which is known for its poor performance.

I would highly recommend you switch to a different plan and/or purchase hosting with FlyWheel who offer free migration.

Maybe try Chrome Canary?

It would give you a second Chrome install. That way, if something was amiss with your main Chrome install you'd avoid it.

Or, try Safari > Develop Menu > User Agent > Chrome

Thank you, guys, for responding here - I've decided to take Danny's advice and go with Flywheel after some testing and research. Looks like Managed VPS Hosting is the right way to go here.

That's great to hear Joe and I am sure you will see the performance difference immediately after using Shared hosting.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
