Media stored in Amazon S3 Bucket, Multi-language plugin

Hi there,

 

I have just started to use Wordpress and DMS2 and have 2 questions. I am performing a redesign of my website which contains approx. 500 pages. I am looking to have all the media (images, docs, video clips etc.) stored in an Amazon S3 bucket and I am also looking to have a multi-language option as my current site is multi-lingual.

 

My details are:

 

URL - redesign.tg4.ie (test site)

Framework version - DMS 2

Wordpress version - 4.1.1

Plugins in use - DMS Professional Tools, Pagelines updater, Contact Form 7, Amazon S3 and Cloudfront

Server - WAMP server on Windows Server 2008 R2

 

I am looking for plugins that are compatible with Pagelines DMS 2 - I have added the Amazon S3 and Cloudfront and configured it. I uploaded an image through the DMS editor and it uploaded to the bucket, the problem is that it is a broken image as it is looking at the local file path instead of the s3 file path.

 

Also can someone recommend a multi-lingual  plugin that works with DMS 2

Hi,

 

Can you provide a screenshot of the URL that the Amazon plugin created for the image please, so we can look into this closer. However, it is likely that the plugin won't be compatible. What plugin are you using, can you provide a link please.

In regards to multi-lingual websites, you can use WPML, PolyLang or Transposh. However, some users have had issues with WPML.

Hi there,

 

Thanks for the swift response. I have done some more investigating into the matter and have found a way of making it work. The plugin in use is Amazon S3 and Cloudfront plugin. As the plugin states -  It automatically copies media uploads to Amazon S3 for storage and delivery. What I need to do is upload the media first - which will be copied to the Amazon S3 bucket and then I will have to find it in the library again and select it - a 2 step process instead of the 1 step I was hoping for.

 

As you can see in the screen grab if I upload it and leave it as it is the image url is [pl_site_url]/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/2.jpg which is local where as I need it to point to Amazon S3. Can I change the upload path from [pl_site_url] to my amazon path in the config?

 

Also the multilingual options - are they all compatible? I am using xili-language but I can change if they are better plugins.

There is no option to change the upload path in the options unfortunately, and would require editing a core file to my knowledge, so I wouldn't recommend it.

 

In regards to the multilingual plugins they're compatible, but some users have had issues with WPML. In regards to the one you're using, I have no experience with it, so it's worth trying, but unfortunatley I can't say if it will be compatible or not.

      I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
      On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.

      Boxes problem in safari - pagelines portal

      It seems that whenever media is set to be on the left, there is a problem with the way safari displays them. I used to have boxes with media on left when i was using DMS2, but since PL5, I've had to use only media on top. I know there are a few css suggestions that people have offered, but I'm wondering if such suggestions can't be built into the boxes code for PL5 rather than having to add extra CSS. Otherwise, am really liking PL5 over DMS2.

      When are the docs pages going to refilled? 
      ..and will the content they have replaced be made available somewhere else?
      A bit too far into a DMS2 project to drop it for Platform 5,  but it certainly gives the impression it will be a lot more of a peppy, positive experience, so I'll shoot for that as the second rollout of the site, but until then- the inbuilt links to content (Docs, sections, answers..) in DMS 2 are either 404 or empty. Perhaps a revision that redirects those pages to the old content so it's available where it's needed and not on the current site / product offering where it would could cause confusion and such.
      I will say, I got into Pagelines because my interpretation of it was that it combines the easy (better) parts of NationBuilder, Webly, et al- and allows one to still have ultimate control, where with the aforementioned platforms, you are basically .. SOL. 
       
      -BUT- it took a while for exactly what was going on, what all the pieces were, and what exactly the product really was, to click with me. 
      I might add that, it was looking at the Platform 5 preview that it all started to make sense. Because Platform 5 is not a huge clusterfudge of a pile of stuff that is all essentially the same thing.
      I wanted a theme, (WHP), then I saw the options, "oh, well if I get this, then I have 'more'" as the lineup gave me the impression that I can get "the theme" -or- I can get the theme and the framework, along with the PSDs and similarly related assets. 
       
      Platform 5 doesn't do any of that at all, but rather say "Here I am, this is going to be great!, Let's go!"

      Unlocking templates

      Hello,
      I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens. 
      I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
      It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

      My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
      All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date. 
      Any thought about what might be causing this?
