bbPress 'Edit Reply' not showing front end editor

Recommended Posts

theredbaron

Hi guys,

Hopefully someone can help me out on this one, as I struggling to find a solution!

This is definitely a DMS2/bbPress issue, as I have tried it on a fresh install with no plugins. If I try to edit a forum reply, I am getting a post excerpt instead of the bbPress front-end editor showing. The editor works ok for editing topics.

The WordPress admin bar is also being corrupted on this page (see screenshot).[attachment=2680:Screenshot from 2015-03-11 14:00:46.png]

This is a shot of the 'Edit Topic' screen which does work. [attachment=2679:Screenshot from 2015-03-11 13:54:23.png]

The 'Edit Reply' page shows fine in Twenty Fifteen wp theme.

I am getting no errors logged in DMS of from wp-debug.

Please help because this is driving me nuts!  :hot:

Greetings,
I have also encountered this issue and the response I got from the bbpress forums was that there was an issue with DMS and singletopicreply.php and I was instructed to add that php to my child theme and see if that fixes it. It didn't but I am still looking for s solution as well.

Note that these instruction came bbpress forums and not the dev here.

This issue is already on our tracker and our developers are aware of the issue. However, I will give them another nudge.

Please search our forums, before posting!

Thanks Danny!

Let me know if there is a quick fix - I'm happy to mod the files if I know where to go.

Have a good weekend. :D

Some good news!

There is now a solution to this issue. With the publication of the new 'PowerLoop' section - http://www.pagelines.com/shop/club/pl-powerloop/ -  just replace the standard wp-loop section with the 'PowerLoop Single' section. This prevents the 'edit reply' bbPress page content being shown as a post excerpt.

theredbaron Where did you replace the postloop on a random post page or the reply page. If anything this narrows it down to the wp post loop section which is good but I am curious as to where you replaced the the postloop section

Hi Aires,

I selected 'Edit' above a reply (as admin, you should be able to do this on any reply). On the bbPress generated page that comes up, which will probably show the reply, along with a 'Read More' button, I put in the PowerLoop Single section and deleted the normal WP Content / Loop section. Hit save then refresh and it works! As this is a bbPress generated page, you only need to do it once on one reply and then every time the 'Edit Reply' page is generated you should get the same page template.

I think the issue must be with the way DMS is handling the bbPress generated page. It is being treated as a post excerpt and therefore displays the DMS generated format for 'post excerpt', along with associated 'Read More' button, instead of the single page loop.

Wells it works great till you try and align the header with shortcodes then it breaks again...LOL

Try using custom css instead of shortcodes.

I can't get it to work.  Can you post a screenshot of what your settings look like for the PowerLoop Single?

Thanks - Jerrad

evscicats - I didn't put anything at all in the settings. The only custom setting for the PowerLoop Single is the box for various short codes, but I didn't enter any of them - just left it blank.

The section (content width) was added to a column within a canvas area, but I have checked it on my Dev site and it works in a canvas area only. I didn't try the full width version yet.

theredbaron - thanks for letting me know what you did to get the PowerLoop section up and running.  I tried it out but it didn't do what I was looking for.  However I did get bbPress working with the WP Content Section.  Turns out I had some code in my child theme functions.php that was causing my forum reply content to disappear.  All that was showing was the title to the topic, some meta, and the reply form box where people could leave a reply.  All the content for the topic was hidden/stripped.  Now that the faulty code is gone, everything is working great!

Thanks!

Jerrad

Looking for some help on a recently developed issue. Editor will not load.
      Theme:  DMS2
Error from:  Chrome - Inspector - console view
Error message: Refused to execute script from 'http://xxxx.xxx/wp-content/themes/dms/dms/editor/js/gettext.js/?ver=4.9.7' because its MIME type ('text/html') is not executable, and strict MIME type checking is enabled.
Occurs on all sites on same server.
WP versions to 4.9.5, 4.9.6, 4.9.7 = same behavior. Worked properly on these same versions until 07/04/2018.
No new plugins. Isolating plugins offers same behavior.
Server vendor reports no changes, patches, etc.
      Server re-starts no impact.

      Thank you.

Hi, I desperatly need some help fixing the DMS editor. It's not loading at all en gets stuck at 'Oops there may be an issue loading.'
I'm able to find this two warnings in chrome:

www.studiekeuzemaken.nl/:4607 Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token
pl.editor.js:740 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'lang' of undefined
          at Object.reloadConfig (pl.editor.js:740)
          at Object.startUp (pl.editor.js:72)
          at HTMLDocument.<anonymous> (pl.editor.js:10)
          at i (jquery.js:2)
          at Object.fireWith [as resolveWith] (jquery.js:2)
          at Function.ready (jquery.js:2)
          at HTMLDocument.K (jquery.js:2)

When I dug into the first warning a little deeper (line 4607)I found out that there is a typo in a css that's causing the SyntaxError. Because the css is placed within a textbox and the editor is not loading I'm not able to fix this.

      What can I do?

      Please help!

      Hi Folk,
Can anyone help me please.  On a page on my site I placed an 'embed section' and inserted code from the Eviivo Booking system that seems to call scripts from their site.  After doing the PL5 editors will not load so I can't edit anything.  Is there anyway of disabling the section so I don;t have to rebuild the page?
      Thanks.

Please see screenshot. I think it should be self-explanatory.
