Hiding Sections Question

Recommended Posts

wendygordon

I have an image and a menu in the fixed section of my site.

I would like to use a different image and a different menu for my Posts Page and for Individual Posts.

there are 2 parts to my question:

I am not sure since this is a site-wide section if the best approach is to hide the fixed section on the Posts and Individual posts and then use the header section for my new image (i am not using the Header section in the rest of the site), or if it is possible to create a second fixed section that only appears on the Posts and Individual Posts.

Either way I am unable to figure out how to specify that Individual Posts pages (without listing every single post id) (and also the other special pages like category, archive etc).

If I hide the fixed section on the Posts Page, by entering the page number of the post page in the edit the section area where it says: (Hide on specific pages or posts? (IDs Comma Separated))  i am able to hide the section on the post page but,  I do not see how to hide it on ALL of the individual posts, and category, archive etc pages.

I was thinking that maybe I can do this with CSS using display: none - but for the life of me, I cant figure out how.

Thanks so much.

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

If you want to have a different structure at the top of certain pages or posts. What I would suggest is that you either create your own section using conditionals or add all your sections to the Template region instead of the header region and then use different templates.

those are both good ideas.  do you have a suggestion for how to make a section "fixed" if it is not in the fixed section?

You would need to use custom CSS unfortunately. I think the best thing to do is keep the Fixed region active and only place sections in there that can shown on all pages, such as your Navigation.

Then add a different navigation section to your posts template region and then configure that menu for your posts template.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
