Iphone or Driod

Recommended Posts

Aires

Well my windows phone is on the brink of going out but I cant decide whether to get a iphone or droid.

Adobe now has apps that I can use in illustrator which is pretty cool.

I think droid is married to the government.

I have never used a mac or iphone .. mainly pc because i like building my own.

Creatively and business wise I think iphone would be great for me but not sure.

HI Aires

Please, you can take a look to this

http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/best-smartphone-os/

Perhaps you can decide with this.

I have a iPhone, iPad, iMac and MacBook Pro, all have a good performance to me, but ....I'm a real fan of apple, so I can not be very realistic.

:P

For Gaming = PC best especially if you have a beast.

For Dev/designer = Mac all the way

As for phones, I am not really keen on the Android operating system, so I do prefer IOS.

Thanks for the input guys.

I often wonder why the teachers on treehouse, lynda, and digital tutors all have mac products. And I am pretty sure tuts+ is using the same equipment but WHY???

Does that somehow make you a better designer/coder or is there a more technical answer. I dont think I will switch completely mainly because I was  gamer first and my system is awesome.

my specs :

Intel Core i7-4820K Quad-Core 3.9GHz with water block
2 x GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 with water block
250gb sd
2tb hybrid drive
1000w modular ps
coolmaster case
28in monitor

and it handles everything I can throw at it

But I would like to know why 70% or more  of designers prefer mac.

Hi Aires
I think that this is a very difficult question to answer but....

I suppose the choice is not the hardware, I think the issue is the operating system on the computer.

Take a tour of this, for example

In my case I have forgotten definitely anti-virus, trojans, worms etc etc etc and since Apple started using Intel processors I can run up Win Applications, that are not in Mac, with an emulator on a virtual machine with VMWare without any problem, so I have the two SO in my Mac.

When I first switched, I immediately realised how much easier it is on a Mac compared to a PC. The applications are just better and regardless how much of a beast your rig is, it isn't really the hardware thats imported, its the Operating System. Windows basically sucks when compared to OS X. However, it is hard to put into words why it is better, it just feels better as soon as you turn the Mac on.

In regards to the apps, you generally find that the best applications tend to be released first or only on OS X and then later for Windows. For example:

MAMP

Tower = Best Git client application

Coda/TextMate = Awesome code editors in their own right and I did use them alongside SubLime Text 2/3, but now I use GitHubs Atom.io edito.

Glui - Awesome little tool

Kaleidoscope - Amazing tool

VirtualHostX

Transmit - Without a doubt the best FTP/STP client there is.

iTerm - Blows the Windows cmd prompt out the water.

There are literally tons more to name...

Aires  Man, I feel your pain!  I switched to Mac probably before it was "cool" ... the "flower pot" iMac was the first one I purchased.  Every time I switch phones or need a new computer, I go through the same decision making issue.  The price point of PCs and the cameras on Androids always catch my attention.  I try to keep one Android device around for live testing and now there are some good cheap options.

As far as desktop, Mac just seems to work (I've had a couple hardware issues through the years but that's going to happen).  I spend much less time maintaining things and just working.  The built in Apps for productivity aren't perfect but paired with Basecamp (pro and personal) it works pretty well for managing nearly any project.

One impression I get when using latest OSX is 'Do they EVER update this?' There just never seems to be any updates?!?

Reason why is because they dont need to! The apps just work and when there is and update it just happens seamlessly in the background.

I decided to go with the Iphone 6 plus and all i can say is WOW.

Not sure if I will journey into the MAC desktop world but I think this is a good start I am really impressed.

I prefer Iphone. It is much better than driod. Believe me, if you choose driod, you will find out the phone will become slower, But Iphone won't have this issue
