How to add <h1> headings to my category pages

Recommended Posts

vladimirtrajkovic

Hi,

After I run a SEO site checkup on my website I have noticed that my website's htechnews.com category pages does not have h1 headings. My front page also does not have it, but I think that it could be fixed by entering <h1>heading name</h1> in the DMS/header.php (through the WP admin panel->Appearance->Editor)

However I could not find a way to enter h1 headings on my category pages neither via some plugin or directly by injecting this code into my category pages html.

Could you help me and give me some hints on how to achieve this?

Regards,

Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,

If you wish to have your Page title on category pages and so forth, you will want to use either use a hook or create your own section. As the Page header section uses H2 tags.

I will pass this onto our developers and see if there is anything we can do in the form of a section. However, a hook is the best option for the time being or using the NextBox section.

Hi Danny,

What I am aiming at is to make my category names to become h1 headings. So basically I do not want my category names to get displayed on my category pages (even though it could be an option) I just want the name of the category pages to be visible to google, bing or yahoo for SEO purposes as h1 headings. For instance, on "smartphones" category page, smartphones should have h1 heading, on "computers" category page, computers should have h1 heading, end so on. If in the future I add new category than that category name should have h1 heading.

I do not wish my website title to be visible on my category pages, as this way all my category pages will have same h1 heading.

Thanks,

Vladimir

If that is the case then just use WordPress SEO by Yoast, this will that for you automatically.

Yoast plugin defines SEO title per category which are defined, but not h1 heading per category. Could you check any category page from my website on any SEO check up tool?

OK, well then you will need to use the NextBox or a hook to add your Category page title. As you can't simply use a TextBox, as you can not have a unique template on a category by category basis.

So, basically I cannot make a change in category.php or similar file where I will define something like <h1>php the_category(); ?</h1>?

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
