PageLines Framework 2.4.6 Update now Hero Nav won't work

I updgraded to 2.4.6 and now Hero Nav was gone.  Tried to re-upload it in the Store section with no luck.  Uploaded as a plugin and it doesn't show up in Drag and Drop to let me restore it?  Why???  Any Ideas?

Hero Nav is a far as I am aware a DMS only section. However, as this isn't a PageLines extension, I have moved your topic to the correct forum where the developer will assist you further.

I think I installed Hero Nav before DMS came out.  We've been using it since day one.  I'm pretty sure this is a framework issue and not an section/extension issue as all of my navigation options (Nav Bar, Secondary Nav, Simple Nav, Nav Classic, etc) were deactivated after the update.  For some reason, Hero Nav is the only one that was deleted and the only one I could not get re-installed/activated.

If the only section that is having issues is HeroNav, then the problem is with that section. As far as I am aware, Hero Nav and other third party extensions for PageLines Framework are no longer supported, as our store developers are focussed on DMS development.

 

I have Evan Mattson mentioned the developer of that extension who will be able to assist you further.

You guys are a joke.  I purchased this framework right before you announce DMS was coming out.  After it launched you promised you weren't going to abandon the Framework that so many people spent money on.  As a result we kept working with it.  Now you are defrauding all of us with your admission that it is no longer supported while not giving your older, loyal customers any upgrades.  The only way we can get anything is if we pay for DMS essentially sucking more money out of our pockets.  This is bad business Pagelines!!!!

We have all old products in a git repository, if you want a pre dms version of hero nav I can get that for you.

 

Evan removed all the legacy code from his plugin over a year ago, but I can get a copy of it before he did that.

I have the pre DMS version of Hero Nav.  That is what I have been trying to say.  It won't install and show up in Drag and Drop.  Also when we updated, all of the Nav options that came with the original framework deactivated.  That tells me that it is an issue with the framework and not the plugins/extensions.

Whats the sites URL? your private support url isnt a PageLines product.

www.cid.edu.  Right now I using NAV Classic but all of my css configuration is set for Hero Nav.  After the updated, there was no navigation on the site and none of the nav options were enabled in the store/sections/core framework.  I installed hero nav as a plugin but it doesn't show up under drag and drop.  I tried installing Hero Nav v1.3 under store/sections/get new sections/upload and it returns an error that the file did not appear to be a pagelines section.  I have 2 versions of Hero Nav and both came back with the same error.

Like I mentioned before. The latest versions of that product are DMS only, they are plugins not sections. I can extract a pre dms version of this product if you so which.

Like, I mentioned before, I already have the pre-dms versions.  I now have 2 plugins that worked before the latest upgrade that do not work now.  Branding and Hero Nav.  The problem is with the Framework not the plugin.   Please help me with a fix in the framework so I can get these to work.

Sorry for the delay.  Are you still having an issue?  If so, would you please provide the installed version of Hero Nav you are using?

Yes, we still have the issue.  we are using Hero Nav v1.3

Hero Nav is backwards compatible with Framework 2.x.  The problem may be in your install method.  

 

The zip package from PageLines (my-account) is a plugin with a file structure like this:

hero-nav/
hero-nav/hero-nav.php
hero-nav/sections/
hero-nav/sections/hero-nav/
hero-nav/sections/hero-nav/section.php

For Framework, you have a few options for installing the plugin, however, as of right now I don't believe that the sections will receive auto-updates any more -- I could be mistaken.

Your installation options are:

• Your child theme's sections directory (if you're using a child theme) `themes/child-theme/sections/`
• In the pagelines-sections container plugin. `plugins/pagelines-sections/` (this is where it would be installed in the past when you purchased it and installed it through the built-in store)

The part where I think you may be getting confused is that, you need to copy over only the section into one of those 2 directories.

Meaning,

Copy
hero-nav/sections/hero-nav/
to
themes/child-theme/sections/hero-nav/
OR
plugins/pagelines-sections/hero-nav/

This appears to have solved the problem.  Hero Nav was not in the "sections" folder prior to the update.  When I copied it from the plugin folder it appeared.  I did have to go to the store section and de-active then re-active it to show up.
