Blog Posts Setting to expand post? & Keep header image static?

Recommended Posts

JimP

Hi there -

First Question;

I have changed the settings in the WP Dashboard/Settings/Reading for each article to "For each article in a feed, show" "Full Text"

However, only a summary version of the post shows up here; http://dwelltrade.com/blog   I would like to either

1) increase the amount of the post that is visible. Can I quantify by # of pixels or ?

or

2) have the whole post visible in the main blog navigation window.

Second question;

When I click on a blog post, the blog header image, "disappears" on the individual blog post page such as; http://dwelltrade.com/italy-wine-cheese

Is there any easy way to ensure the main blog page image, is included at the top of all posts, categories URLS?

Thanks in advance  - I'm new at this.

Jim

Hi Jim,

1. You can increase the amount of posts displayed using the WordPress settings > Reading. However, this option only works with WP-Content/PostLoop section.

2. Like above, you can control how your posts are displayed using the WP-Content/PostLoop section settings. You can choose between excerpt or full post.

3. I have viewed your blog and there are no images displayed on your blog. Therefore, I am not seeing the issue.

4. Are you referring to this image ? - https://cloudup.com/c72G_U0t-Ui

Hi Danny,

Thanks for the reply.

I do not see a place in the DMS editor to select between "excerpt or full post" ...I have tried to change these settings in the WP dashboard/settings/readings area....but no changes happen. I've tried uninstalling the plugins.

In regards to my second question, yes this image https://cloudup.com/c72G_U0t-Ui - is it possible to create a header that stays static throughout the blog, on all pages?

thank you,

Jim

Hi Jim,

1. You will need to use the legacy options on the WP-Content/PostLoop section. Once, legacy mode is active you will be able to select from full post or excerpt.

2. Any you place in the Header, Fixed or Footer regions will be visible throughout your site, as these are global regions. Therefore, if you want a header like that on all pages and posts, simply add it to your header region. However, if you want it to be displayed on your blog and posts only. You will need to use either the hide on pages option via the section settings and/or place your Page header image on the Template region of your blog template and posts template.

      Hello,
      I apologize for the trivial question, but I can not deal with it. How do I turn off the display of a distinctive image on the page? (I have to add it because I use plugins that use it), but as I display the page, I do not want it to be visible (and appears above the subject.).
      Probably a cliché but I can not deal with it. Therefore, a request for help.
      Regards

      I have added a Lax section on the footer of this site: http://www.ics-law.org.php72-38.lan3-1.websitetestlink.com/ but the background image is not displaying. When I first add the image it appears in the background, but then after saving and reloading it is gone even though the thumbnail indicates it's still there. Screenshot attached.
      Any suggestions?

      I'm trying to add a Careers page to a site to display job openings. The plan is to create a Post using a subcategory 'Careers' and then display those on the page. All of the post sections in PL seem to include images and there's no obvious way to remove them or include an excerpt from the post.
      Any suggestions?

      Hello,
      Shouldn't the image PL5 component be using the srcset/picture css directives to pick the correct size for an image? or it does already and I don't know how to use it? Thank you for any advice or enlightenment.
