iBox icons become squares in front end

Recommended Posts

Website URL: http://nakedalm.com/training/
Framework Version: latest
WordPress Version: latest
Plugins in Use: 36
Server/Host: WP-Engine
Screenshots:  http://screencast.com/t/LqihPJqX2v
Details:

As you can see in the screenshot (taken with all plugins disabled) I can see the icons on iBox in the back end, but not in the front end. They were working just fine for a while, then stopped. There were no changes on the site. No plugins added, no plugins updated.

note: Font Awesome icons work fine on the menu on the same page.

Hi,

Can you provide a screenshot of your iBox settings please. Also, have you made any changes to any of the core code or added any custom CSS at all ?

As for some reason the code required to load the icons, is not loading for your iBox icons and also the format of the HTML in your iBox section doesn't look correct.

I have not made any customisations to the code at all. I do have some customer CSS, but that has not changed in a while. Certainly has not changed since it worked.

As far as I can tell, the iBox section isn't loading all the correct CSS and something is causing this to happen. Therefore, you're going to need to switch to the DMS theme instead of the child theme you're using and see if this resolves your issue.

If it doesn't, you're going to try each of the following:

1. Remove all custom CSS and see if this resolves the problem.

2. Disable all active plugins and see if this resolves your issue.

I have tried both #1 and #2 seperatly and together. Neither of these solves the problem.

If I revert to the default theme then the icons on ibox return, however the following also occurs:

  1. All "fa" icons disappear
  2. social icons no-longer display correctly and do not have links
  3. Admin: The page setup tab no longer displays correctly and shows both "Active" and "Load" for all templates. (http://screencast.com/t/1gHfHh85)
  4. Top area background image no longer displays correctly

To be honest, its better broken with the child theme than broken without :(

Here is a version with the root theme: http://nakedalmweb.staging.wpengine.com/training/ (I can give you an account for this if needed.)

OK, I am not able to recreate your issue on my end. Therefore, it has to be related to your custom code, plugins or even the server. If you can send me PM with the following:

1. A link to this topic so I know what the PM is regarding

2. A link to the site in question

3. Your admin username/password

4. Make sure all plugins are disabled

5. Make sure all custom code is removed this includes CSS/LESS, hooks, scripts etc..

6. Make sure DMS is the active theme

The username and password you provided via PM do not work. Therefore, can you provide me with the correct ones please.

Also, can you remove all your custom CSS, as you appear to have invalid CSS such as this:

a {
text-color: #0F6CB6 !important;
}

There is no CSS property called text-color:, there is only color: By removing your custom CSS, may resolve your issue. As something like this will cause a parsing error.

OK, can you remove all custom CSS and disable all scripts and plugins you have added please. As I am unable to recreate your issue on my test sites. Once these have been removed/disabled, I can login and see what is going on. Depending on how fast you reply, this may be Monday when I look into this now.

After looking at your staging website, I think there is something going on with the server configuration. As, your DMS visual editor is all aligned left and some CSS just isn't being applied and/or the styling loaded isn't correct when I compare it to one of my test sites. Therefore, I have message Simon and see if he can figure out what the issue is, as I am unsure.

Was there ever a final solution to this?  Because I am having the same problem on my site as well, where turning off all plugins and deleting all custom CSS doesn't fix anything.

I have viewed your site again mrhinsh and you still have that invalid CSS, you need to remove this as it is likely causing a parse error. There is no such CSS property called text-color, there is only color:

I am unable to remove the CSS from the pagelines page as it will not allow me to save the "DMS LESS Fallback". You are welcome to do anything you need to the site... This is a staging site and only a copy of production. I have deactivated all plugins and removed all custom themes as requested.

Now that I have done this, DMS is non-functional (as reported) and does not work properly. I am thus unable to make any changes to the "DMS LESS Fallback" content that contains the misspelled tag. Please verify...

Hi,

So I have passed your sites information on one of our devs and he logged in and informed me that he has no idea how you have achieved that.

Therefore, have you made any edits to the core files at all ?

If not then he suggested uploading the theme files again and see if that resolves your issue.

No edits to the core theme. No FTP access ever to those folders... Will try uploading the theme again and let you know.

Danny, I tried re-uploading the DMS theme and this was the result:

Okay, this is very odd and the only conclusion I can come up with is that your server is doing something rather odd. Can you recreate this issue in a different environment say locally using MAMP or XAMPP ?

I have no idea what those things are! I have two environments where it is replicated Production and Staging. We can do whatever we want with staging... I can give you guys Admin and FTP access to spelunk the issue if need be.

Note: The folder structure in DMS on my site is very different than DMS downloaded!

As long as I don't loose all of my site content I will be happy. The data is there, but the templates are blank... some pages has bits and pieces, but most disappear...

What do you mean the folder structure is very different on your site to the one in one you downloaded ?

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
