Valid Site Speed Suggestions when using DMS2?

Recommended Posts

dario

Given my recent (likely self-imposed) speed issues, I've found some suggestions online and wonder whether any of them might cause problems.
I've done none of them just yet though.

  1. Replace default WordPress jQuery script with Google library.
  2. Use the Async Javascript plugin or Google's suggestion here.
  3. Enable 'keep alive' via .htaccess:
    <IfModule mod_headers.c>
    Header set Connection keep-alive
  4. Enable gzip compression:

yoursite.com/wp-admin/options.php > set the 'gzipcompression' field value to 1.

So, does any of this seem problematic (or useless)?

What site are you testing? I just tested the site you were having issues with yesterday and its already gzipped.

Yep. Same site but I have three more in the hopper waiting to go live.

Odd, though, that you're seeing it a enabled.

When I go to the options page, the gzipcompression setting is 0.

That might be the case, but compression is being done at the server level.

What site are you using to test? What url are you testing?

http://www.klrousar.com/

As for the URL, pretty much any one on that site but the home page is the main one I'm using as a guide. In that it's my wife's site, it's a good test-bed.

I'm seeing much, much better speed since I allowed DMS caching. Pre-fix, Pingdom said it took over 8 seconds to load. Now it's 2.43.

This thread isn't really about problems, just anything that can speed things up in general and making sure that I don't do anything which bothers DMS.

Pingdom gives the site >90% on all tests except:

  • Serve static content from a cookieless domain. (74%)
  • Leverage browser caching. (6%)

I don't think I have control over the first (other than changing hosts) but WP-Rocket, or the like, should manage the woefully bad 6% browser caching issue, no?

I cant comment on wp-rocket, its a paid only plugin that I have not tested.

Leverage browser caching and compression can be as simple as adding a few lines to your htaccess file.

http://www.feedthebot.com/pagespeed/leverage-browser-caching.htmlAssuming you are using apache.

You are using cloudflare anyway, surely thats what its for?

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
