Custom Post Types Help

Recommended Posts

atcdomainsolutions
Hey everyone. I'm building a site for an attorneys office and they have a huge staff and I know the best way to input everyone is by creating Custom Post Types. In the years I have built sites, I have never created a cpt... Haha. Well, I have with plugins but the one thing I do not know how to do is get them to display. I'm using the Skeleton child theme and would love if someone would be willing to walk me through how to get cpt's created with a plugin to actually be displayed.

Hi,

All you need to do is use a plugin such as Custom Post Type UI and follow the instructions in the plugin for creating your post type. Once created you will see it in the left hand side of your WordPress Admin Sidebar as a new menu item. Then all you do is add a new one like you would a page or post.

Once you have created a new staff member, simply click on the view staff or whatever you call your CPT and if no content is displayed, simply drag and drop the WP-Content/PostLoop section to your template.

I think that's where I'm lost...at the end there.  I used a plugin and set up a CPT and then added some custom fields.  I then go to view after entering in sample data and the only thing is shows me is the title and the content I added to the WordPress editor but all the custom fields I added and filled in, it's not showing that and that's where I think I need help.  How do I get the custom "fields" to show?  I'm using Skeleton, which has a Functions file but no other php files so I think I need to know how to create a page template on my own?  When I used other themes before I completely switched to DMS, I would create a child them and copy the page.php file and name it something else but with DMS, I don't see a page.php template.

I asked a similar question and this is the response I got

http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/37674-a-little-dilemma/

I have yet to give it a try. I was hoping you got a different answer for me to look into.

Aires, thanks bro. I am actually going to download that first thing tomorrow and play with it but after reading through the documentation, it should work for displaying them. Guess my thing will ne getting it to display a single person with the fields all showing instead of just everyone from that cpt.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
