Question about child themes

Recommended Posts

mmunger

Hi everyone,

I just uploaded and activated a child theme on my blog and I have a question about how it changed with DMS 2.

Please keep in mind that the last time I used a child theme, I was under the Pagelines Framework. At the time, it was mainly to customize a CSS file.

When I switched to DMS 2, I mainly used the Custom CSS box and some Inline CSS customizations to make things look just the way I want them to.

Now, after activating the child theme, everything seems to work perfectly, without having had to redo all my configurations.

With this done, I wonder... what does the child theme offer that I couldn't find without it anyway?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but it's not clear in my mind.

Hi,

As Batman kindly pointed out with that URL, all the information regarding what a child theme is can be found on the WordPress codex. Basically, a child inherits the functionality, style etc.. of the parent theme in your case that is DMS.
