change section order for responsive devices

Recommended Posts

pazyluz

I was unable to edit my earlier post ".visible-phone" to include this related question:

Besides hiding and showing things on certain devices, is there a way to change the order of things (like sections) for smartphones?  I not only want to remove the image I now use for the first section (header?) to appear on smartphones but want to move a couple of things around if possible.

To be honest, I found the media-query write-up rather perplexing and am hoping for a more simple answer.

This is the related css already added last year:

.hidden-phone {
  #dn8w0s;
  #uddsza;
  #3yrlfk;
  #42c26b;
  #facgqb;
  #iw6y0i;
}

.visible-phone {#zl373w;}

.visible-phone {#dzz142;}

.visible-phone {#z1qpkv;}

BTW, I am getting a message saying I can upload no more attachments (???)

Hi Peggy,

There is no method of ordering sections on specific devices, you can possibly do this with CSS via media queries, but this isn't something we can provide support for as it goes beyond our support scope.

Danny, is it possible to set a different homepage or landing page for mobiles?  That would solve everything. I'm thinking of doing either "display:none" and/or "visible-phone" for a couple of pages.  But I wd still want the homepage to be a certain page, the page for my book.

There is no way to do this out of the box with DMS, as this isn't something DMS should do. What you're trying to achieve is change how WordPress functions and therefore, you will need to ask this question on the WordPress support forums. There is likely a function to do this, but we can not provide support for it.

However, as I am such an awesome dude, I did a quick search and found the following which may help you - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16165211/how-to-set-a-different-static-homepage-for-mobile-version-wordpress

Please be aware that if you encounter issues, you will need to get support from the WordPress support forums.

Thanks Danny.  I found several of these plugins.  I'll check them out.

Regarding this css, I went through the site with firebug searching for these elements and found nothing. In the event these are shortcode, any way to decode them back to their included elements?

.hidden-phone {
  #dn8w0s;
  #uddsza;
  #3yrlfk;
  #42c26b;
  #facgqb;
  #iw6y0i;
}

.visible-phone {#zl373w;}
.visible-phone {#dzz142;}
.visible-phone {#z1qpkv;}

Not sure what you're referring to when you say these are shortcodes? You can not use shortcodes in CSS, the only way the code you have would work is if those were variables or mixins in LESS CSS.

I have no idea what that code does and it is very likely not valid or even does anything. What I would is comment out the code and see if you notice anything or speak to the person who wrote the code.

Commenting out the code would look like this:

/*
.hidden-phone {
  #dn8w0s;
  #uddsza;
  #3yrlfk;
  #42c26b;
  #facgqb;
  #iw6y0i;
}
.visible-phone {#zl373w;}
.visible-phone {#dzz142;}
.visible-phone {#z1qpkv;}
*/

Wrapping your code with /* ... */ comments out the code and stops it from being used. Once you have done you can see if anything is styled differently on your site.

      Hi,

      I have been using DMS and pagelines.
      I am facing to a huge trouble with the appearance of one of my page on mobile (smart phones) built with pagelines.
      However I haven’t come to any solutions to organise either edit the appearance of mobile view to look neat or deactivate the responsive function.
      Now it looks totally messy on the phone...

      1. Is there any way to edit the appearance of the mobile version (responsive theme)?
      2. Is there any way to deactivate responsive function?

      If I could receive support from you to go thorough this process I would be happy to be a pro member.

      Looking forward to hearing from you.

      Hi,
      I desperately need to deactivate the responsive function on mobile for reasons. It looks so messy with the responsive look on mobile and not navigating or informative at all as it is.
      I searched for solutions online and tries some of those that I found but nothing worked out. Also I found a previous post on this forum says that this theme pagelines DMS is not meant to be build to deactivate the responsive function...
      Also tried with widget such as WPtouch to edit the mobile look a little more informative but as I am using "single page" theme on pagelines, the frontpage(main page) never appears on those app.
      Seems like not compatible?
      If there is no way to deactivate responsive function or I'll have to recreate another page just dedicated for a mobile page? or change the theme completely and build a page from scratch?
      I have been searching for this for two days already...
      Could anyone wise and kind out there, please help me?

      Thanks,
