Problems adding not listed Google font

Recommended Posts

Moonbus
I'm newbie in using Wordpress and Pagelines DMS and even in coding in general (CSS for example). Now I wonder things about the "add Extra Google Fonts" field in Global Options. In short I simply wish to add a font available in http://www.google.com/fonts that is NOT (yet?) listed in the default DMS "Google-extra-font" menu. Let say I wish to add the whole family set for the font Laila: is there a simple way to to this just typing in some magic stuff in the  "add Extra Google Fonts" field in Global Options?

YES I have searched the forum and found this http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/32608-need-help-with-adding-fonts-process/?hl=extra+google+fonts#entry193477 but since I'm not yet that into how DMS and coding i general works I feel a bit overwhelmed by all info there.

I understand I eventually have to learn "it all" and go the long way BUT for now I wonder if there is a QUICK solution to add fonts in the Google-font library that yet isn't listed in DMS font menu.

(By the way; is there a difference on fonts not listed in DMS font menu and any font converted using this converter: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/tools/webfont-generator ? )

Thanks for all answers and "hints".

Hi,

If you download and install DMS Pro Tools plugin from your PageLines.com account, you can enable the entire Google Font library into DMS and the font you want is included.

Here is the link for the documentation.  http://docs.pagelines.com/tutorials/adding-custom-fonts

It's really pretty easy.  In the front-end editor, under site settings > typography there is a "Extra Fonts" area.  Add your font there according to the instructions in the section.

Add additional Google fonts to your sites using this option.

For example, to add "Yellowtail" and "Lato Bold" you would enter: Yellowtail|Lato:700.

You can then reference these fonts in custom CSS.

Then you will need to add the font to whatever elements you want it to cover.  For example.

  1. h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 {
  2. font-family: 'Yellowtail', cursive;
  3. }

Alternately, instead of using the front-end editor you can just add the Google Font code provided by Google to the script editor.

<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Yellowtail'rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

Thanks Jmad. However, there is no need to add an additional script as the font the OP wants is already included in the Google library with DMS Pro Tools.

I have the latest DMS Pro Tools plugin but still I cant get the font family of Laila to show up in the menu, I tested for example to use the text "Laila:400,300,500,600,700" in the extra font-field but nothing new happens after refresh and even total server restart. (I need the font family of Laila of client graphic profile reasons).

What do I wrong?

Just tested this, set fonts like this: http://i.nzb.mx/image/1l2Y0q2i052Mthen click publish, then under advanced click the flush button then refresh the page.

Never a need to reinstall/restart a server

Flush and refresh already in "my process" and now I tested that format you show (thanks for posting the image) on typing the font-code "Laila:400,300,500,600,700:latin" but still the font refuse the be shown in the menu...

A bit frustrating....  Any more ideas anyone?

What do you mean by menu?

The "drop-down" menu to the left to where you type those extra fonts... That standard way of choosing font.. Isn't the fonts you type in extra font field suppose to be visible in that font list?

No, the font list are built in fonts. The extra fonts you are adding are just appended to the main googlefonts URL so you can use them somewhere in your site via CSS

Just a quick addition to this for anyone else trying to sort this out, as Danny suggested install the DMS Pro-tools and then in the WP dashboard navigate to the Pagelines PRO section and enable all google fonts.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
      I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
      On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
      Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
      My theme is up to date

      Hello,
      I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
      I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
      It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

      My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
      All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
      Any thought about what might be causing this?

      Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
      Thanks in advance for the help!

      All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
