Quick Carousel (Change Direction of Sliding)

Recommended Posts

atcdomainsolutions

I have a client that loves the Quick Carousel I added to her home page (creating a very open minimalist site for her) and she wants me to use two Quick Carousel's on the home page.  By default, the carousel slides from Right to Left but she wants them to slide in a different direction. One from right to left and then the one below it to slide from Left to Right.

Is there anyway to accomplish this?  I'm not the greatest at PHP/Javascript as far as writing code from scratch but feel comfortable going through PHP or Javascript to make changes.

Thanks!

Hi,

You will need to create a child of this section, but rename it to something else. Then make the edits, this way you will have two versions of that section. The make the changes, to that child section files.

Remember to rename the section, both the folder and all instances relating to PLQuickCarousel to whatever name you want to call the section, otherwise it will effect both of them.

Thanks! Can you point me to documentation on creating a child theme of a section? I have never done that and then what code would I be looking for to change the direction? I have no problem hunting for it but figured if you knew a keyword I need to search for, that would help.

Thanks so much. Kinda excited to try the child section creation. Opens up a lot of doors for other things.

You can use either the PL starter theme or use my advanced version of Skeleton, which contains a section directory with a section copied into that directory. When you place a section in that sections directory, it becomes a child of said section.

Quick question...I actually was already using the Skeleton child theme (great by the way) and I followed the steps.  Found the Carousel section in the DMS folder, copied the entire Carousel folder and then added it to the Skeleton theme directory (into a folder I created called "sections") but when I go to the DMS editor and hit "Reload Sections", I don't see a second Carousel section.  Should I see a duplicate one or how does this work?  I'm on my local XAMPP by the way so not sure if this is causing a problem?

No if you haven't renamed the section and any instance of PLQuickCarousel in the files, all that is going to happen is that the child section will override the core one. That is why you need to rename it and all instances of the PLQuickCarousel so that you can have a Carousel section based off of the core one. If you simply copy the folder into your child themes section folder, all you're doing is creating a child section of that core section.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
