BuddyPress and bbpress Deep Integration between the 2

Recommended Posts

So, I upgraded to Dev edition. But here is something that is not convenient that I am seeing. On the one end I have installed the bbpress and got it to fuse with wordpress. Then I went through the install of the buddypress and installed the forum pointing to the bbpress. But it does not seem to really fuse together. Ie the forum list at http://new.gradiduncut.com/forum does not list the topics that should be in http://new.gradiduncut.com/forums So, Any suggestions or observations on that one? Thanks

Jules, I think there is a disconnect here, because based on what you wanted style and function wise you were wanting the bbPress forum that we are using here, however, this does not integrate with BuddyPress which is why BuddyPress has it's own forum What can we do to resolve this issue?

Yes. Your right. This is because I was trying to get familiar with both options. So here is the thing. I really like the forum look of the bbpress. And I really like the ability to have your own social network and manage groups. What I would like to achieve is to make sure that the users of the buddypress can track there forum topics from bbpress and that in bbpress you can also link and follow activity of there buddypress accounts. Is that possible so that you do not have to always log out of one to log back into the other? What do you think? Thank you

Some more after thoughts. Perhaps: If it does not already exist maybe there is a way to create of modify the buddypress user profile to integrate the forum topics of the bbpress. And modify the bbpress to point automatically to the buddypress account. But the proble still remain that there is no way to list the bbpress forum topics within buddypress or have the topics of the bbpress to retain the groups option of the buddypress. I wonder how to close the loop completely so that it feels like 1 system.

I think this is something that someone may be working on, but is likely not possible. I'm guessing that as BuddyPress develops it will have more bbPress functionality built in, but the best place to ask if this is possible would be in either the buddypress or bbPress forums where there are developers there who know much more on the topic
