consider ipad and tablets as desktop and not as mobile

hi,

we're wandering if there is a method to change the default desktop/mobile logic: by now, tablets like 10'' ipad are considered as mobile, but we need to serve them the desktop content.

the media queries ways (targeting small screens like "max-device-width") is not a good option, because of two issues:

greater screen definitions like iphone 6, HTC one & samsung S5 are not targeted by these queries, they need specific and exclusive definitions.

we need to completely NOT serve these sections to smartphones to achieve better performance.

so by now we need to serve the same sections to desktop and tablets, and to completely hide (not serving at all) to smartphones the "hide this section for mobile users" option.

is this possible?

thx,

stefano

Hi Stefano,

If you're actually referring to the options to hide on desktop and hide on mobile via the DMS Pro Tools plugin. These options use the wp_is_mobile WordPress function. If you want to use media queries to hide specific sections on mobile devices such as mobile devices with larger screen resolutions see this article and implement it in your custom CSS:

Hi Danny,

what i'm trying to achieve is to serve sections to desktop AND tablets together, and to deny the same sections to smartphones ONLY:

now: DMS considers "desktop VS mobile" (smartphones AND tablet)

my request: make DMS change the default behaviour to "desktop (+ tablet) VS smartphones"

so when i disable a section for mobile, it will be disabled only to smartphones and not to tablets.

is this possible?

thx,

s.

It is possible, but you will need to include this code yourself. The options DMS uses is the WordPress wp_is_mobile function. You will probably want to create a media query that targets mobile/cell phone device widths and then add the class to all sections you wish to hide on mobile devices.

Not sure exactly what is causing the issue. For some reason, why you view my site on mobile, the menu does not show up. It will pop up, but it is black. You can check it out here: http://dev.caryfbc.org. I'm also attaching a screenshot where I shrunk my browser down. Any suggestions?

      Hi,

I have been using DMS and pagelines.
I am facing to a huge trouble with the appearance of one of my page on mobile (smart phones) built with pagelines.
However I haven’t come to any solutions to organise either edit the appearance of mobile view to look neat or deactivate the responsive function.
Now it looks totally messy on the phone...

      1. Is there any way to edit the appearance of the mobile version (responsive theme)?
      2. Is there any way to deactivate responsive function?

If I could receive support from you to go thorough this process I would be happy to be a pro member.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

While building my website, I set a padding of 5%, 25%, 5%, 25% so the text on the pages is not too wide.
However, it looks crappy on mobile.
How do I get the same effect and still have it look good on mobile?
      Example: http://yemoonyah.com/quiz
      Thanks
