This code needs to be placed above the closing body tag i.e
tag.

-------------Where should i insert the code?

To your child theme functions.php

The error is probably caused by you adding your code after that ?> that you added to the end of that file.

If you dont want to use a child theme, then either create a simple plugin, or you could add your html code to a mediabox/textbox in the footer.

add a textbox or a mediabox to the footer area, add your code into the box. Job done. Thats all the work there is to it, unless your asking us if its working, in which case we ant tell as you never provided a link to the page in the first post.
