DMS can't load compiled stylesheets

Recommended Posts

Hello:

Since moving my DMS wordpress site to a new server, the site isn't looking right when loaded. When I debug, I can see that a couple css stylesheets can't be loaded. See attached screenshot.

How can I fix this?

Ignore me if this is a diversion, but I think this issue might have to do with file permissions. I noticed WP keeps asking for my FTP password every time I want to upload a plugin. Possibly DMS can't write or access these compiled CSS files?

I've tried to understand this article (http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions) but can't really figure out what my permissions *should* be. Again, just ignore this if it has nothing to do with my CSS issue.

I appreciate any feedback.

Cheers, R

Hi,

How did you move your site, also have you gone to DMS Toolbar > Site Settings > Resets and clicked flush caches ?

Also, what is the URL of your new site, as the errors you have in the screenshot display your CSS attempting to load from /new/ which I take is no longer in the URL ?

Hi Danny:

Thanks, just flushed the cache as you instructed but it hasn't improved anything when i check again in a couple browsers.

The site is here: http://hydraactive.com/new/

I used wordpress' instructions to transfer the site:

- backing up everything

- changing the Wordpress Address and Site Address in the WP Settings

- downloading a new copy of the database and uploading to the new host

- updating my wp-config.php to match the new host database

- uploading site files to the new host

- using the Velvet Blues Update URLs plugin to catch items in database still referring to the old URL

Looking at the site in a browser, it just appears as if a lot of the CSS styles are gone, but not all.

Does this help diagnose the issue at all?

Thanks, Russell

Hi Danny:

Sorry, to clarify, the URL http://hydraactive.com/new/ is the new address on the new server. I tried to move it to the root URL (http://hydraactive.com/) but had so many issues that I hid it inside the new folder.

Once I can get it running within the /new/ folder, I'll move it out into the root.

Hello:

I've tried transferring the site again from a fully-working version on the test server to the new server, but still no luck. I strictly followed Wordpress' instructions about moving servers and changing URLs, including running a script which ran through the database and updated the old URL to the new URL.

Once I transferred the database and site files to the new server, I still had the same problem where home page doesn't look right. As before, the error console says that two compiled stylesheets couldn't be loaded.

This is getting pretty urgent. I need to fix this site to launch.

Any replies on this soon would be welcome.

Kind regards, Russell

You can't have followed the WordPress instructions correctly, as your images are only loading from the /new path and I assume you want it to be root ?

http://hydraactive.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/hero-logo.jpg= Working

http://hydraactive.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/hero-logo.jpg= 404

Therefore, you haven't changed the all the urls the database, I have no idea what that Velvet plugin is. The best thing to do is for you to check all the URLs again. Also, flush your caches like I mentioned above. If that doesn't work.

Please send me the following information via PM:

A link to this topic so we know what your issue is referring.

Which site is the one you want i.e. is it under /new or root ?
A link to both sites along with Admin username/password for each

FTP details

Your URL to phpmyadmin or whatever you're using and the admin username/password

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
