Video player section on home page

Recommended Posts

mmunger

Hi everyone,

I would like to add a section that acts as a video player, with embedded code for each video, on my home page. People could browse and use arrows to view different videos with it, just as they could do with an image slider.

I tried the Rev Slider but that hasn't worked for me. Isn't there a proper way to do that?

HI,

The RevSlider supports video, but I don't think it will work in the way you want it. To make sure videos are displaying correctly in the RevSlider section, you need to upload your video in two formats, this is documented in the RevSlider video option.

Alternatively, you could search the WordPress plugin repository for a video slider or video carousel plugin.

Given how the Pagelines Web site splashes this video player on its home page (see attached screenshot) I find it unacceptable that it's not possible in DMS2.

It seems that every time I want to do something, it's simply not possible. And I'm stuck with a blog home page where I just can't do things because the Pagelines folks didn't think about real-world uses.

Very unsatisfied here!

That section as far as I am aware was for DMS 1.x only via a child theme developed by PageLines. The section was called Gallery and I have zipped it up for you and uploaded it here - https://cloudup.com/cGGkVNDk4x0

Download it, extract the zip and then upload the gallery folder to your child themes section folder. If you do not have a child theme, you're free to use mine here - http://dannyholt.github.io/skeleton/

Please be aware that this section was developed for DMS 1.x and therefore, may not actually work as intended in DMS 2.x. I haven't tested this myself.

However, I will pass on your feedback regarding no being able to do this and see if we can get this implemented in the future.

Also, can you tell me what else you're having difficulties with and I may be able to help.

How has the use of child themes changed under DMS2? I am not using one right now and I already have plenty of customization done on the site. I wonder if it is simple to retain all of it while using a child theme.

You should be able to without any issues. However, you will need to transfer any custom CSS, you have added from DMS to your child theme.

Also, as a precaution, always perform a backup before doing anything like this.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
