DMS frontend broken when adding section

Hi

After spending all day working on, thankfully, a local version of a site, I tried to add PopShot to see what it was like. The linked screenshot shows what happened. I hadn't published but can't find a way to unpublish.

Any ideas as to resetting to before PopShot was added?

HI Paul,

 

What version of DMS was you using ?

Also, did you have any plugins active ? If so, does disabling them resolve the issue ?

When your pages looks like it does in your image, open up Chromes dev tools and see if there are any errors. If so, please copy and paste them into your reply.

My site has done the exact same thing.  The attached photos show how the page should look (what is publicly viewable) and then show what is displayed when I try to edit.  

 

Prior to the error I had been making changes to the site and everything was working properly until I used the disk icon on a section to attempt to save a new custom section.  Some plugins are active, but none changed immediately before the error. Deactivating all plugins has no effect.

 

When opening Chrome dev tools, no errors show up.

 

Running Wordpress 4.0, DMS2 2.1.6.1.

Plugs makes no difference and Dev tools shows no error. Site looks fine when not logged in.

 

Started afresh yesterday and it's done the same thing again for no reason I can discern - it was fine, I modified a style sheet (which works fine) and then it's broken.

Just an idea... Is there a way to enable  frontend in Firefox or Safari? I had a problem in a earlier version which turned out to be a Chrome problem. I fixed it in Firefox.

I can do it in Safari by choosing the Chrome User agent but no joy.

The only way you would receive that error is either:

 

1. You have a LESS parse error, which means you have invalid CSS which is causing the error.

2. You have a plugin causing a conflict

3. Your server has some kind of weird setup.

 

Have you tried removing all custom CSS/LESS and scripts and see if this resolves your issue ?

 

If that doesn't resolve the problem, can you PM the following details pleas.e

 

1. Link to the site in question, along with your admin username/password

2. Permission to make edits on your site, disable plugins etc..

3. Steps to reproduce the error i.e. what section or sections are you adding to cause the issue.

I figure it may be a cache problem.

If I remove all my child theme's css, less and javascript, clear Chrome's cache, it still fails.

Is there a way to flush the cache without having access to the Resets section of DMS?

In the wp-admin PageLines page, click 'save' in there should clear things. O deactivate then re-activate any plugin will trigger the same.

I spoke too soon. I activated a load of plug ins and the problem reappeared. However, I've deleted all the plugins, removed my styles and replaced the dms folder with a fresh copy. Still broken.

 

Very confused!

If you enabled a load of plugins then the issue is likely to be caused by one of those plugins. What I suggest and this is a PITA, is to enable your plugins one at a time and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, then disable that plugin and enable the next one, see if the issue persists and rinse/repeat this process until  you find the culprit.

      I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens. 
      I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
      It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

      My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
      All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date. 
      Any thought about what might be causing this?

      Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?

      Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com. 
      All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
