Why Is Inline CSS Not Working?

Recommended Posts

arielle

Hey folks,

Nice product, though the learning curve is quite steep.

I'm trying to adjust font size of a Masthead using custom CSS & inline css options and they don't seem to work. It's strange because I'm able to change other properties of the element - e.g, colour, background colour, etc using those methods.

The website is at:

http://www.mcconnellmedia.com.au

Thoughts?

OK.

Create masthead & place it into page.

Go to masthead options.

In "inline CSS styling" put font-size: 80%;

And nothing happens.

Also, if I try to create a class which has a smaller font size and put it into "Custom Styling Classes" box, nothing happens.

Hi,

You should only use inline styling sparingly, as it isn't really recommended and instead you should use either the styling classes field or override the default CSS, using your own custom CSS.

The reason as to why the font-size isn't changing the Masthead title is because the masthead has it's own class that controls its font-size. So you can not override it using the inline styling.

To change the masthead title size, you will want to use override it using the following:

.masthead-title { font-size: 60px; }

Firstly check this: http://docs.pagelines.com/advanced/less-css

To change font of masthead go to yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=PageLines-Admin

In dms less fallback add this:

.mymastheadfontsize .masthead-title { font-size: 40px; }

Go to any masthead section put mymastheadfontsize (whithout dot) in Custom styling classes. If you'll change less in frontend you can push ctrl/cmnd + enter - to see changes life.

Danny thanks so much. I tried doing it using CSS override and it still doesn't work. I've also tried to use this method on another element on the same page and it does work:

.masthead-title { font-size: 60px; }
.icallout-head { font-size: 60px; }

Are you able to shed some light on why that's the case?

borzd thanks for trying to help, however that's a bit too complicated for a newb like me :)

If some CSS is working and some are not then the issue is the CSS you're using. For the masthead title, try this instead.

.masthead .masthead-title {
  font-size: 140px;
}

I highly recommend you signup to Code School and do their free tutorial on how to use Chromed dev tools, it will make your life so much easier.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
      I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
      On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
      Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
      My theme is up to date

      Hello,
      I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
      I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
      It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

      My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
      All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
      Any thought about what might be causing this?

      Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
      Thanks in advance for the help!
