Trouble with the following. publishing, undoing, chrome (mac vs windows) and difference between http and https

Hi guys,

all the problems below correspond to mytekdigital.com which is latest wordpress in multisite.

I am having problems with publishing, undoing, and http vs https differences.

I have disabled all plugins and deleted other themes. (I still have Pagelines themes but I'm not sure which ones I can delete - this is a screenshot of my currently installed themes http://mytekdigital.com/temp/themes.jpg

Problem 1. Publishing - If i create a new page I can add sections publish and eventually save a template.

BUT with pages previously Published needing to be changed and updated, I cannot easily load a template or perform other operations without performing extra strange moves such as - publishing the page even if changes may not even exist yet (the undo dialog is green saying no unpublished changes), switching between http and https, or enabling and disabling plugins.

So basically I can't consistently publish updates and both global and local changes may not actually get applied.

problem 2. Undo's - Related to publishing, I will make changes they may not show up and refresh will show an unchanged page with a green circle. OR refresh will show an unchanged page but with a RED or PURPLE circle. UNdoing local or global changes has no effect.

Problem 3: http and https difference - switching between the two sites with dms editor will hide some options such as previewing rev slider, and sometimes they are different versions entirely.

http://mytekdigital.com OK https://mytekdigital.com BAD

I tried to apply the solution from the forum link here

http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/35780-frequently-asked-questions/?hl=functions.php

But It doesn't specify which functions.php. I tried the root wp file, not sure it was meant to be the dms theme?

This solution had no effect.

problem 4. Chrome mac vs Windows - Mac seems flakier and Windows more consistent. Is this a known problem?

any and all help would be great

HI,

Please refrain from asking multiple questions per topic, we only allow one question per topic. The image you linked above themes.jpg gives a 404.

1. I am not entirely sure what you're referring to, we are going to need to have a recording of this issue so we can see it first hand. Please use either QuickCast (OSX) or Jing (Windows/OSX)

2. Can you provide a video of the issue please.

3. Again, going to need to see what you mean, therefore can you provide a video please. Also, how have you set up your SSL ?

4. Not sure what you mean by flakier, I am a mac user and have no issue using Chrome.

I would also like for you to disable all active plugins and see if this resolves your issue and keep them disable when recording the issue. Also, please enable DMS debug mode so we can view your configuration ~ WordPress Admin Dashboard > PageLines, scroll down and check the option.

Please search our forums, before posting!

Sorry about the multiple questions Andrew asked me to post to the forum first before continuing over email. I also feel they may all be related.

The link was posted prior to executing a restore. It should work now. mytekdigital.com/temp/themes.jpg

1 & 2. here are two videos to be viewed in succession. mytekdigital.com/temp/dms2_part1.mp4 & mytekdigital.com/temp/dms2_part2.mp4

3 here is the current ssl for our site. As best I know it is active and properly configured. mytekdigital.com/temp/ssl.png

4. After creating a new page and saving a final template. I will go to the LIVE page to publish. First I will attempt to make a new template of the LIVE page for backups. Under OSX both http and https have given me problems both in creating the LIVE page template and publishing the NEW template. However moving to windows I have been able to create the LIVE page template and publish the new one, with problems of not recognizing changes and needing to try work arounds but with eventual success.

I mentioned in my post that I disabled all plugins and they are still disabled. I have enabled debug mode.

The first thing you're going to need to do is disable all active plugins and remove your SSL, as well as remove the older version of DMS you have. You can't have two versions of DMS installed as they both have the same directory structure i.e. a folder called dms.

This will likely cause issue.

Once you have done the above, see if DMS works as intended, as I have no issue using Undo to relink a template that has been unlinked. We also have users who have SSL running with their DMS website and have no such issues.

So until you have disabled all active plugins, remove the older version of DMS and removed your SSL for the time being, we will not be able assist you. We are also going to need you to explain in greater detail how you have setup your SSL.

Also, you still have plugins active on your site please disable all plugins. FYI, PageLines Google Fonts plugin which you have active is no longer required, as Google Fonts is now included in the DMS Pro Tools plugin available from my account on PageLines.com

I deleted All other themes (DMS, Pagelines Framework, Viewer). only DMS v2.14 is there.

(DMS should be called DMS2 as to not be confused with DMS1. It confused me.)

I think this is what you meant?

To be clear I need to disable the following plugins:

DMS Professional Tools

Pagelines Updater

Post tags and Catergories for Pages

Boot strap Icons

Hooker

Post Types Order

Salebar

ALL of these?

Im looking into the SSL now. Is there a particular way it is supposed to be?

When I say disable all active plugins, I mean all active plugins, so that all the plugins you have installed are disable.

Also, for information on HTTPS, see this WordPress guide - https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/

Once you have disabled all active plugins and remove your HTTPS, does DMS work as intended or are you still having issue ?

Also, we are going to need to know the exact steps you took to achieve your SSL.

All plugins disabled.

still unable to properly publish

In my first post I asked what exact file is being referred to from the DMS FAQ

"I tried to apply the solution from the forum link here

http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/35780-frequently-asked-questions/?hl=functions.php

But It doesn't specify which functions.php. I tried the root wp file, not sure it was meant to be the dms theme?"

If possible please please clarify which file to modify and is this solution still valid?

We cannot determine how our SSL was installed. We filled out a form through hostgator and they installed it for us.

What kind of SSL does DMS2 require or work best with?

DMS does not require any type of SSL. If your cert is setup correctly it will just work.

What exactly isnt working, this post has got diluted and its difficult to tell what the issue is.

If you open the site in http:// then stick to editing in http:// do not switch to https:// until you have published the page and logged out then logged into the https://

Wordpress treats the two separate with login cookies.

Looking at your site all we see is a super cached page, is this setup correctly to deal with logged in users and ssl?

HTTP publishing and editing does not work.

HTTPS publishing does work but editing with undo does not - We can publish changes to see if they work but cannot use undo to preview. No refreshing with unpublished changed.

here's a sequence.

1. I change a text box from center to justify.

2. I refresh the page and text box is still centered

3. i publish the page.

4. i refresh and NOW the textbox is justified.

In http changes occur but the undo button stays green, but can't be published.

So the site should be ALL in https:// then?

We can access the site from HTTP and HTTPS://

We think that the site admin should be through HTTPS:// and the webstores HTTPS://

Other than that we have no preference.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!
