Whole Website Different on DMS2

Recommended Posts

adabill

Just updated from 1.1 to 2.1, and I can't get the "welcome to DMS2" PDF off my front page. Also, the website seems to be defaulting the mobile-style navigation bar, even on desktop. How do I get my site back to the way it was?

HI adabill

Please, you can take a look to this

http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/33474-dms-20-how-to-upgrade-from-dms-11x/

Specially at the @James Giroux reply.

The front page "welcome to DMS2" is only for information, you can delete this, go to your pages and blog you can see this.

We did install DMS2 on a staging site. Thanks, we were able to get rid of the "welcome" page, but the navbar is still set up to be like our mobile page. Attached are screenshots of the DMS2 updated page, and our live site, with the navbar how we want it.

Hey batman, one more question. Our navbar seems to have lost its gradient, though no changes were made to the LESS sheet, and that's the only other thing that was changed. Any ideas on how to reset the navbar background style to the way it was? Thanks!

Hi adabill

I don´t understand what you said about "style to the way it was" but you can add a CSS rules to have the gradient you want.

You can try to post a image "what do you want to do?" and  your site's url so we can properly take a look for this.

Not sure if you can still see the screenshots I posted a while back when trying to fix the default navigation issue — on the live site (www.adaptiva.com), our navbar background has a gradient, which was done in our CSS/LESS sheet. Since updating to DMS2, the gradient background has changed, though we made no changes to our style sheet.

Attached is a JPG showing the new navbar after the DMS2 update, and the navbar on our live site below it. Thanks!

Hey batman,

Been working on this for a while with the advice you gave, but to no avail so far. We changed the div class in our style sheets to try to update our navbar (changed to #naviucb1c6, and .pl-area-pad fix, as according to what we found in Google Chrome element inspection), but nothing changed. Are we missing something?

Thanks!

The image you have provided above, is using two completely different sections. One is the NavBar and one is Navi, so if you want to have the same NavBar on your DMS 2.x site, then please replace the Navi section with the NavBar section.

Danny Thanks for the reply, and thanks — we didn't notice that the actual type of section had been changed. However, since switching back to the Navbar section from the Navi, we're still having more or less the same issue.

Here's some screenshots:

Our live site with the Google Chrome Inspect Element on the navbar:

Our staging site on DMS2, with the updated, incorrect navbar section, plus Chrome inspect element:

Our style sheet section for the live site navbar:

We did notice that the navbar section id is different and tried to update the id's in our style sheet, but that did nothing. Any advice on what we can do here?

Thanks!

I viewed your site and your NavBar appears to be how you want it, has this now been resolved?

Danny

No, our live site is still on DMS1 and hasn't been touched. The issues I'm facing are in updating to DMS2 on our staging site, reflected in the screenshots above.

OK, well the issue is the NavBar has had a slight style change since DMS 1.x and there is no more gradient navigations, they're all flat meaning one color only. So what you're going to have to do is use custom CSS to recreate the gradient for the NavBar.

To do this, follow the instructions below.

1. Goto your Navbar section settings and add the following nav-grey to the styling classes field

2. Once you have saved the settings, go to DMS Toolbar > Custom CSS and add the following:

#site {
  .nav-grey {
    .pl-color-grey {
      #gradient .vertical(#fff,#aaa);
    }
  }
}

You may want to alter the color values to getting a better match.

Danny, thanks! With some tweaking, I got the custom CSS to make the navbar look just like our old site.

One last issue you might be able to help us with, which was a problem both on DMS 1 and DMS 2. Our owner wanted to replace all the email links with images to reduce the spam we were receiving, including one in our footer menu, which we were previously using the SimpleNav add in for. We couldn't figure out a way to put an image in place of a menu item in the SimpleNav, so we replaced with a TextBox, which worked, but is acting buggy. When we put the code in the text box, it works fine, but when we refresh the page, it goes all out of wack. We can cut and paste the code back in, and then it goes back to normal, but as soon as the page is reloaded, it gets weird again.

Here's a screenshot of the footer menu before we refresh the page:

And after we refresh the page:

We haven't taken this menu to our live site yet, so it's all on staging. Here's a dropbox link to our code that we're putting in:

Our forum policy is one question per topic, for search indexing reasons. If you have another issue, please create a new topic. However, the issue you have with your menu is related to either your custom HTML and/or CSS, also HTML like that should be used in side a MediaBox section and not a TextBox section. Please be aware that we do not provide support to user created code.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
      I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
      On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
      Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
      My theme is up to date

      Hello,
      I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
      I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
      It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

      My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
      All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
      Any thought about what might be causing this?

      Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
      Thanks in advance for the help!

      Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
      All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
