Migrating from Framework to DMS2 - Preparation advice (woocommerce, gravityforms etc...)

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I intend to migrate a site from Framework to DMS in the not to distant future. In all likely hood it is going to be a ground up rebuild however there are few things I need to be prepared for namely the woocommerce store that is not the site and the gravity forms installation.

Is there anything that I should be do in advance of the migration? Is there best practice approach to migrating an existing woocommerce store into gravity forms etc...?

Many thanks

Keith

Hi, I would suggest you try anything you have not done before locally first so that your live site is not down for long periods of time.
Build your site locally and fix problems as you find them.

Hi Keith.

Yeah like the suggestion above, I would work locally and recreate the site, then import to your live site.

Thanks Airs and Danny

That's exactly what I am doing, however I want to move my existing woocommerce store and gravity forms setups over. Not really sure how to go about this. Really I am starting with a complete fresh install, using the child theme (Skeleton - figuring this out as I go) and a new database which I'd prefer not to import all the data from the old. DMS introduced many features that I needed to use plugin's for in Framework.

Also is the Pros link available still? Can't locate it. May need some customisations done (will being giving them a go myself).

Thanks

In regards to Gravity Forms you can export/import your forms, so use that. As for WooCommerce, you will need to speak to them regarding exporting/importing your products, as I am not on hundred percent sure if the WordPress import/export tools picks them up.

Not sure what you mean trying to figure this out with Skeleton, it's is just a basic child theme ?

If you require customization assistance, then you can contact one of them from our resources page - http://docs.pagelines.com/resources

Thanks Danny

What I was meaning about Skeleton was that I am hoping to create the new version of the site using a child theme, however its my first attempt at using such.

Will check out the resources, however I do have something in mind that I would like to implement on the site. I am suspecting it may need someone with knowledge of sections for DMS.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
