And here we go again...

The same thing is starting to happen with the website www.LionsLIVE.com

Notice how the Home page - http://lionslive.com/ and Sponsors page http://lionslive.com/sponsors/ and Join Us -- http://lionslive.com/join-us/ are the same.  Change one, it changes the other.  Create a template for each yet no matter what one changes the other.  Deleted the page, added it again, no matter what, it just keeps doing the same thing like so many other websites do...  It seems that as you continue to ad more than just a few pages DMS starts to go haywire...  I keep trying with the software but have yet to have ONE website ever work right with DMS.  Would be nice if someone could actually find out what is causing this...  You have anyone in the U.S. who can try to login and see?

These websites show that it is working...

DMS doesn't go haywire after adding a few pages, if it did no one would use it and our forums would be flooded with complaints, you're the only user who is experiencing this issue as far as I am aware. I have now been able to finally load your site somehow (although it took about 2minutes to load) and noticed that on your debug info, you have plugins active. You're going to need to disable them and see if the issue persists.

If possible, please use Jing or QuickCast to record your issue, as loading your site takes far to long for me to be able to login and check myself.

Also it wasn't only related to the UK, I had family members in Australia and members of my old guild from Denmark, Germany, Israel, Malta, Spain, Brazil and Chile, each one of them had issues loading your site, which either failed to load or took forever to do so.

I had some of our engineers look at this.  I was told that when all the plugins were disabled that the plugin "simply-scroll-up" was causing a problem.  We will investigate more and try to find out what else it could be.  Would you please let the provider of this plugin for DMS2 be aware of the plugin causing problems so they may find the fix and provide an update.  As this progresses, I will report more as it is discovered.

Hello Skip,

We are the developers of Simply Scroll Up. Thanks for purchasing and using Simply Scroll Up - could you be more specific as to what the problem is?

We have this plugin working on several sites and no one has raised any concerns with us. We have a demo for the plugin here http://pagelines.kyle-irving.co.uk/simply-scroll-up/ and as you can see its working without errors and no errors are showing when inspecting the site in Google Chrome Dev Tools. However, if there is an error we would like to know what it is so we can attend to it.

Currently we are unable to access either of your sites. We use Google Chrome on a 50Mb internet connection and even after several attempts we were not able to make a successful connection to either of your sites, as you can see here - it's not just down for us http://screencast.com/t/O9kXBwap. This would suggest that there is a misconfiguration with your server. We are unable to advise you on what the misconfiguration is or how to resolve it.

We look forward to receiving more specific information.

My bad...  I thought I had put the link...

Here is the link to the video - http://www.screencast.com/t/TPekmyTvSvqn

Please note Danny that the plugin Simply Scroll Up was is disabled yet the problem as you will see persists.

Hello Klye

The report about the plugin came when we disabled all the plugins and the entire website went down.

The engineers went in and found that the plugin Simply Scroll Up is what caused the error.

I'm able to provide you with the support ticket # and you may correspond with the engineers who found the problem and receive more details from them if you wish.  I can provide you with the login & password to support where you may correspond with them directly.  I can be reached at [email protected] - it will forward to my main eMail address.

Hello Skip,

Please kindly provide the details of the support ticket here. Or better ask your engineers for more information and then share that here.

As we have said this plugin is installed in several places and has caused no issues of this nature anywhere else.

Thanks

Hello
You may login and view the support ticket with the following information.

Adding site login info to a public forum is a VERY bad idea ;) I have moved the info to the moderator area.

Hello Skip,

I am not sure it is a good idea to share your login info in the forum in this way.

Also, we are not comfortable logging into your hosting portal. Would you be so kind as to copy all the information here. That way if any other users come across similar challenges this would become useful information for them.

Thanks

Hello

The engineers and system admins did not give me the detail.  You may login and view the information.  It is not access to our server but the admins and engineers who worked on it.

gavin_launchpad I logged in and viewed the ticket. They logged into WP and simply disabled the plugin. They gave no reason or debug info.

We have find the issue. The issue is due to your wordpress plugin "simply-scroll-up". Currently we have disabled this plugin. Now the mentioned domain is working fine with us. Can you please check it and update us.

Hello Skip,

We are happy to attend to problems with Simply Scroll Up, however we need information about the problem so that we can try to recreate the issue to resolve it.
We are not experiencing any issues with the plugin anywhere else and have nothing to go by.

When you have more information we will be happy to assist.

BTW - your websites are still unreachable for us in the UK and show as not being available using http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ - perhaps you still have server issues.

Thanks

Hello

I understand.  I'm just relating what they have stated.

You may submit a ticket regarding the visibility of the website to you.  It is a dedicated server and the server co-location facility stated that their network is wide open.  The server admin's have said that they do not know of any issues.  So please create a ticket and let them know what you are not able to view so they could start the fix right away.

Thank you.

As far as I can tell the issue you're encountering on that video is related to either a plugin or your server configuration. As I am unable to recreate your problem on any of my test sites. I think the only way we can assess your issue correctly is if you use an alternative host, as there is certainly an issue, especially as myself, Gavin or Martin are unable to view any of your sites hosted on your server.

I think the best thing would be for you to give FlyWheel a try and see if you can recreate the issue on their hosting.

Hello
I've done all the above and then some with the website.

Start over from scratch.  What you said about the pages works fine but with the posts it does not.  I've Reset Current Post Type Settings as per your instructions. I've even deleted all the posts and started again making a template for each and still when I make changes on one it changes them all.

Examples:

http://dreibelbisauctions.com/365-hummingbird-lane-lewisburg-pa-17837/

and

http://dreibelbisauctions.com/estate-real-estate-auction-419-outer-dr-state-college-pa-16801/

You may have access to the site.

http://dreibelbisauctions.com/wp-admin/

I've not made any changes to your account so you may use the login & password you have always had.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated and anticipated.

Sincerly,

Hi Skip,

I am still unable to connect to your site, I am on a 152MB connection and the site just loads for about 2 minutes then returns with a message saying site unavailable. There is certainly something wrong your server if I am unable to connect to it or anyone from the UK for that matter.

Also, in regards to your post above, when you say what I said about pages works fine, but posts it does not. If my assumption is correct, you're attempting to have different templates load on different posts. If this is the case, then that is not possible in DMS, you can not have a different template loaded on a post by post basis. When you assign a template to post, it will be assigned to all posts of that post type. You can however, have a different template per post type, if you use custom post types.

Hello Danny

I personally can't explain what filters are in place that prevent you from seeing the website & being able to login.  Some countries block and filter things more than others.

Regarding this topic.  You are right in what I'm trying to do.  I was able to get down what you mentioned about pages and I was trying to do the same with posts.

So how do I create a different template for each post types?  I naturally assumed that Pagelines DMS would work consistently the same with posts as it does pages.  I look forward to and thank you in advance for your advice.

All the best of Providence.

The only filtering the UK does is regarding Torrent sites, usenet sites etc.. anything with illegal downloads and thats about it. The UK internet policy will not effect your site, the issue is with your server.

Posts and pages are completely different and it isn't a matter of consistency. However, our developers are aware of the issue with not being able to use different templates on a post by post basis.

Unfortunately, you're not able to achieve a different template on a post by post basis. However, you can use different templates per post type, to do this you simply need to create custom post types. Using a plugin such as Custom Post Types UI.

Thanks for the info.

I trust that the next update for DMS will have it built in where we can create templates on a post by post basis...  It will be welcomed warmly by users...

Let me ask you this as a follow up.

With Pagelines DMS until there can be custom post templates made in the next updated, in the website I'm building I was going to use posts to be the place where I'm able to put the information for current, live and past auctions.  Would I be better off making a page for each?  If so, does it make a difference on how many pages you can have with Pagelines DMS?  Am I to understand that Posts are to be more limited to articles and blogging?  Does it make a difference in the speed of the website if you have more pages than posts and lastly does it make a difference with SEO?  I know they may sound like stupid questions but I'm wondering why even use posts if they are not able to have the full benefits of DMS by making the custom content.

Your advice is greatly appreciated and anticipated.

Thanks again & all the best of Providence.

You can use your posts or pages for whatever you like. Posts are generally used for blogs, news, etc... If you use pages instead of posts, it doesn't make any difference to your SEO.

Not sure what you mean by this statement "I know they may sound like stupid questions but I'm wondering why even use posts if they are not able to have the full benefits of DMS by making the custom content."

Thanks for the info.

What I meant was that if we can't use DMS for custom posts like we do with pages it naturally would mean that the posts lack the same benefits of DMS as we have when we use DMS for the pages.

Another quick question...

Does the number of pages affect the performance of the website with DMS and what are the most pages a person can have in a website with DMS?

Thanks again for your assistance.

Sincerely,

Skip

Posts are generally not mean't to have a unique layout or design, that is why you can not use templates on a post by post basis.

WordPress, in itself, does not impose any limits on how many pages or posts you can publish. In theory, you can have as many as you like even millions. However, in reality, a great deal depends on your server and it's configuration, performance and load. The experience I have had with your server thus far, is that it shouldn't be used to serve a website or page, as I am unable to even view your site. Therefore, I would recommend you switch host to either FlyWheel who are experts in WordPress hosting or if you prefer to manage your own server use Digital Ocean or Linode. The reason I say this is because, your server at present is configured in such as way where I am unable to connect, either was any of our previous staff who live in the UK. I also had family members who live in Australia and they too, were unable to connect.

Thanks for the info.

I'm checking into the server configuration now and will try to find out what is up with the co-location facility.

All the reading I've done so far about cloud hosting does not indicate that a person is still better off having a dedicated server.

I appreciate the thoughts on the posts to pages.  Along this vein, I like the widgets of where people can see different articles and blog and will adjust as needed now knowing what is the best way for me to use pages and posts with this website.

Again, thanks & all the best of Providence.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
