So here we go again...

DMS again now is changing all the pages when I change one.  No idea how or why.

I've deleted pages, I've re-created pages, made templates for each page yet when one is changed it changes them all.

Website example of this

http://dreibelbisauctions.com/buying-auction/

same as

http://dreibelbisauctions.com/selling-auction/

same as all the rest except for home page...

Gave up on last project when this happened...

Will I have to do the same with this one and use a different theme from a different company?

So after all this time since DMS was released I'm on this quest for actually having one website that works with DMS...

Could this be the one?

Your thoughtful assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Hello Martin

I've been able to login as the admin at both http://dreibelbisauctions.com/wp-admin and http://dreibelbisauctions.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fdreibelbisauctions.com%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

I hope that this is not the long run around of nobody being able to see what the problem is and it never being resolved.

A lot of work went into this and then for all of a sudden for every edit to change everything on every page except the home page has been a lost of lost time.  I would really like DMS to be able to work.  Since the purchase I have yet to have one website actually work with it regardless of versions that keep coming out.  I always have to end up starting over and using a different theme.  I would really like to believe in your product(s) but so far, it has been a disaster.  Lots of production time and crash bang boom...  Disgruntled clients and nothing but loss of time which is money...

I can assure you there is no 'run around'

I definitely cannot see a site at http://dreibelbisauctions.com/

I am checking with the team to see if anyone else can access this.

I did a reverse IP check on the site and saw 32 other sites on the server. I tried to access any one of these sites and get the same 'this webpage is not available'

I tried every single site in the list to no avail.

I am asking some other uk ISP users to check this out also and will update you shortly.

Using a Proxy server i can see what appears to be your site and also many of the other sites on the server. http://screencast.com/t/sDxF5CHk0Mc

This points to misconfiguration at your hosting provider.

Could you log in to your site for us please via Wp-admin and then visit the front page of your site via the following to pages

http://dreibelbisauc...buying-auction/

same as

http://dreibelbisauc...elling-auction/

from the front end and take a screen shot of the screen for us - please make sure we can see the DMS components in your screenshot.

The ideal way to do this would be to use the free tool jing available here http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html

OK i see the problem. Using a proxy i managed to get to your site and into your DMS editor.

On the Buying-auction page the 'Selling At Auction' template is active http://screencast.com/t/lDqKAjQcpOp

On the selling-auction page the 'Selling At Auction' template is active http://screencast.com/t/i4pTvBHPry4

With the same template active on both pages a change to one template or page will effect the changes on both pages.

On the Buying-Auction page just unlock the template and then save the template as a new new template Buying AT Auction or whatever you want to call the template.

Make sure that each unique page has it's own unique template and you should be ok.

I noticed that the IP for the website is 66.59.111.132 and that there are no other domains on this IP.

The server administrators have assured us that there is not a problem with hosting.

If you believe there is a configuration problem with the server, please let us know so we may have it addressed.

Thank you.

I will look at your message about screen shots and have it so you may view everything and get it up ASAP.

Thank you.

Hello Martin

My comment was to let you know that the server has been and can be adjusted if you believe that is the problem.  Just let me know what settings you would like.

I did create a recording of an example of how one page that should only have html code shows up the same as other pages as well as the example how when you change one page it changes them all.

Here is the video for you to view.

I hope this helps find the fix.

Thank you.

Hello @Skip

On the Buying-auction page the 'Selling At Auction' template is active http://screencast.com/t/lDqKAjQcpOp

On the selling-auction page the 'Selling At Auction' template is active http://screencast.com/t/i4pTvBHPry4

With the same template active on both pages a change to one template or page will effect the changes on both pages.

You have the same template on at least two pages. Each page must have a unique template for a change to one page to not duplicate to all other pages. could you list the pages on your site for us and the templates you believe each page to be using.

All your pages are using the same template

From your own video:

at 0:40  >> The Calculator page is using the 'Selling At Auction' Template http://screencast.com/t/452DKkMFK

at 01:56 >> Your Buying auction page is using the 'selling at Auction' Template http://screencast.com/t/4kdZL6pxS2

at 02:39 >> You access the True Blue page to sow the change you made to the Buying Auction page is showing on there as well. This is because this page is also using the 'Selling at Auction' Template http://screencast.com/t/oBZuY4V1

From your WordPress > Pages > All Pages it shows you have not actually set a template for most pages and they are therefore using the default template. The Default template in this case has been modified to become the Seling at Auction' Template.

I am assuming you used the duplicator plugin to clone your pages? if so you have also cloned the templates. Could you confirm this for me?

The Solution

You need a unique template for each page in order to have each page not reflect the changes of the current universal template 'Selling at Auction'

Steps to resolve this then are

  • go to each page in turn and then unlock the template - you can do this as follows (clicking the 'unlock template' padlock) http://screencast.com/t/yZt1brghjO7
  • Then to to 'Page Setup' and save the page as a new template
  • you can then make the changes to that pages template without affecting all the others.
  • repeat until all pages have a unique template of their own.

if you want some pages to have the same template then create that template and assign it to the pages - all these pages will be effected by the changes made to one of them as they have a shared template.

Does this make sense?

Hello Martin

Yes, I do understand what you say to do and have tried this and even as you will see in these videos that the software is not working.  Not only from saving for each different page and their respective templates but even simple html to a page.

Please let me know what is wrong so I can work on this website or if I need to get another theme from someone else until you have this one up and working.

Thank you.

Ok the video is great - thanks for this.

I know this seems like another 'it's not DMS, it is server related' there must be a reason all the page titles are 'page not found'. All the Pages are showing as WordPress Page Type 404 except the home page.

http://screencast.com/t/7dlBlreHU

There are WordPress support forum topics pointing to changes in core files of WordPress that have caused this in the past.

I made some test pages on your site and am working through the issues for you. I will speak to a dev regarding the 404 pages and see if it is related and we will update you asap.

Could you update to the latest DMS (backup first of course) for us please? 2.1.2 came out since this topic was created.

One more question, have you made this site somewhere else and used the duplicate plugin to move the site?

Hello Martin

I'll be able to adjust the server to any settings you all need.

I will definitely update anything that is showing is available for update on the site.

This is a fresh new website I'm building from scratch.  It will be used as a prototype for another main website for the company.

What I will do is delete all the pages (except the ones you made) and start again from scratch adding each page and its content.

I think that because I just created pages and not the content it could may be a cause of the problem.  Most people create the page, add the content.  I wanted to add all the pages first so I can link them appropriately, make a menu, etc.  If it is easier to wipe out the entire database and start all over I can as well if you wish.  I would just like to be able to get the project moving forward and not continue to be delayed with adding content and then it all being changed, etc.

Please let me know if it would be better to start all over again.

Thank you.

I think remove the duplicate plugin and any other plugins until you really need them. Especially if you aren't using them until the end of the build.

I have, in the past, created all the pages with DMS, assigned a template to each page and then added the content later. this shouldn't be a problem.

I tried to disable the duplicate plugin and i got a 504 Bad gateway error every-time.

I added the test pages and assigned templates to them and added content and it seemed to work. i swapped the templates around and the content stayed on the pages.

Rather than start again, try removing the content from pages and re-adding it once the superfluous plugins have been removed.

First though, make sure DMS is updated to the latest version and let's take it from there.

Simon

right, pages and posts have TWO modes.

https://cloudup.com/cibDK5jJPkk

1. LOCAL scope, just this page/post is affected.

2. TYPE scope, usually the post_type ie page/post

So i created a new page here: http://dreibelbisauctions.com/?page_id=346 its set to local scope (see the screenshot) postloop is there, and then i added a textbox. The textbox is only shown on THIS page.

So clicking around it seems some of your pages are local and some are set to type and that you have removed the postloop section from the 'default' template, so all your pages are blank.

simon has been looking at this for you and we agree with your suggestion of starting over BUT there is no need to start from scratch.

In the visual editor > Site Settngs > resets >

You can click 'Reset Current Post Type Settings' this will fix the problem with page types and you can get your site finished

 http://screencast.com/t/8TXU7jqC

Researched the Page Title issue a little and absorbed some knowledge on this. Show your host this http://wordpress.org/support/topic/permalinks-nginx-not-working-help-required

They don't have Nginx setup to work with Permalinks for this reason when set to post-name in permalinks - setting permalinks to default does work though but displays Page-id-xx in your URl rather than post name.

Hope this makes sense and if we can help you setting up your site let me know.

Finally - you mentioned you had HTML that wasn't showing up - i read back but didn't see you mention where you placed this - i thought you has put it in the Page content. If you have and it doesn't display then this will be because of what simon said with regards post loop missing from pages.

I've followed your instructions regarding the reset and the page - http://dreibelbisauctions.com/selling-auction/ is now showing a 404 error.  Is this is supposed to happen?

The server settings are being adjusted and I referenced this ticket.

The page I was talking about adding html in a column is - http://dreibelbisauctions.com/calculator/

Ideally on this page I would like to use two columns with the first on the left using a gravity form and the one on the right the code for the calculator.

I've also tried just adding the html to the text on the calculator page not using DMS and it still will not appear correctly.

I have now added the code using the DMS interface and saved it but it is not working correctly.

Please check this out and let me know if the website is OK to start rebuilding.

Thank you.

I checked with the server admin and they said the settings were correct for the hosting.  Could you be more specific about the Nginx setup you wish to have.  Is it a plugin?  For SEO purposes don't you want to have the name spelled out in the URL?

Hello

Is there an update to these matters yet?  I would like to be able to build the website without more delays.

If DMS is not viable, please let me know and when a functional version is scheduled for release.

Thank you.

Skip, the problem is, none of our team can access your site. Regardless of what you server admin states, I am unable to load your site, I have tried VPNS, proxies and still get the same result. Therefore, there is most certainly an issue with how your server is setup. We can't really assist you if myself or Martin are unable to access your site.

Also, have you read through Simons post, as that is likely your issue or you're adding content to the Header and Footer template areas of your site, these areas are global template areas. This means whatever you add to those areas, will be visible throughout your site.

Please search our forums, before posting!

Danny, I can't figure it, the engineers can't figure it but England is the only country in the world that seems to have the problem of accessing the website.  The co-location facility has their network wide open.  CentOS & cPanel administering all the hosting...  What more could a person ask?

If there is a particular configuration you wish for the server, please let me know.  I'll forward everything over to the engineers.  I can post the settings of anything you wish to see here if you like...

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date
