The Fixed Header Section On Bottom?

Recommended Posts

chrisayers

Using DMS2  I have a project I would really like to "swap" the fixed header section to the bottom of the page. Is this accomplished by CSS or rewriting the page loop and where would I find that.

HI,

Switching the Fixed Template Area isn't as simple as just using CSS, it has been coded into DMS core functionality. Also, you can't change core functionality of DMS by editing the PostLoop, the loop is related to how your posts display, not how DMS works.

If you want to add a fixed elements to your site, you will need to use a hook and HTML and CSS. However, I have added your idea of a Fixed Template Area at the bottom to our tracker.

Thanks Danny. I figured this was a bigger challenge than simple CSS. I have a radio station that wanted the players in a fixed area. It works fine as a header but thought a fixed footer would look cool.

Marked this as closed but let me know if any hamster wheels start turning over there.

OK, I was playing about and have a basic fixed footer working by using a hook, html and some CSS.

Add the following to your child themes functions.php:

Add the following CSS to your custom CSS:

End result (rough) will require additional styling.

You are really nice to try this for me thank you. If I use your code "as is" it works "rough."  However the when I put the player down there it "breaks" DMS admin bar. Attached is the screenshot.

The issue was with the code, try this:

If you have any other issue, you will need to address them yourself. As I mentioned above, this is a super basic fixed footer, if you wish to expand on it, you're free to do so, but it will be considered user created code, which we do not provide support for.

Once again thank you Danny. You went out of your way to get me that far.  Hope the gang see the usefullnes in a fixed branding footer very much the same as the top one. I wont expect any support on custom code. You got me pointed in the right direction for sure.

The site http://nekkidradio.com/ has your code working perfectly now. I can take the wheel from there. You taught me a lot more than just that trick. I have not even touched the functions.php page yet. Thumbs up and a big beer.

Ok since we all share our toys and discoveries here. I finished making this code do what I think best suits this need. I am sure people can take this and come up with some neat things. Rather than the full width for just a player I made it a fixed button area with rounded edges containing the player using Danny's code and some custom CSS.
