Archives Only Place with Excerpt

I want to make the archives section the only place where there are excerpts of the content with a "continue reading." Line when I select archives to have excerpts in PlatformPro, it also applies excerpts to the category pages, despite it being set to be a full-length post. Any suggestions on how to do that? Also, I can't seem to get the "continue reading," text to appear even when I've selected excerpts. What up with that?
