Canvas Area

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've uploaded the new DMS 2 for my AdventureMumma.com site - I am trying to create a simple Home page - I would like to place a banner photo with my Logo on it at the top of my initial landing page. I am using Canvas Area as my background & an image (beach scene) BUT I don't want the FULL canvas area showing on my site - I would like a narrower height. How do I adjust the size of the Canvas Area?? ie. reduce the height

The section options for the canvas area allows a minimum height to be set but not a maximum, your best option would be to crop the image to the correct size and then upload the edited version as the canvas bg. Otherwise you could use css to set a max-height for the section. Eg: max-height:100px; etc.

Kindly search the forum and read the documentation before posting. It will help you resolve many issues.

For CSS help be sure to check out W3Schools first and be sure to download FireBug for FireFox for troubleshooting.

James is most likely correct, but I am not actually sure what you're trying to do. Therefore, would it be possible to provide a screenshot of what you're currently have and what it is you're trying to achieve please.

Update: On second viewing of your site, it appears that the white space beneath your banner image, is actually a second Canvas area beneath your banner section and another above the Map section, if you remove these as they're both currently empty it should remove the white space, if that is indeed what you're referring too.

When I remove them via Chromes dev tools, you get the following result - https://cloudup.com/ciH7-A65r8d

Thanks guys for both getting back to me. I got frustrated with the canvas area & used a pageheader style instead to get the look I was aiming for. James I did try and resize the photo BUT it wasn't giving me the 'stretch' I was looking for so I went for something else in the end.

And Danny I've put that canvas space in deliberately cause I feel it works better to have the map seperated from my pageheader.

Thanks to you both for getting back to me - in the end I opted for another solution but much appreciated for trying to solve my problem....

Kate

PS - Just out of interest do you know how I can get rid of that dumb 'author' avatar (with my email address) that's popping up next to my blogpost. Haven't worked out where I 'opt out' of having that sitting next to the top of my blog :)

To remove the Author Avatar, you can either remove it via CSS or enable the Legacy options, which give much more control over how your post(s) behave and display.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
