isle2isle 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 Hi again, For some reason I am unable to publicly view an author profile on my site. Everything just defaults to a list of posts by the author. There is no description or avatar. Do I have to install BuddyPress to display profiles? Or maybe, in all my mucking about I've removed something important??? I had BuddyPress installed at one point but have de-activated it. and have been experimenting with various plugins... (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!) Example author page: http://fish-recipes.net/author/mauimike/ Thanks again,
bryan-hadaway 3 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 You may get your hands dirty: http://codex.wordpress.org/Author_Templates Or go with something a little easier: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=author+profile Thanks, Bryan
isle2isle 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2010 Thanks, but where do I find the author.php files for PlatformPro?
catrina 103 Report post Posted November 13, 2010 There is actually no author.php file included in PlatformPro, but there is a way to add it yourself. Check out this tutorial on how to create an authors profile/page: http://wpsplash.com/how-to-create-a-wordpress-authors-page/ Please read the docs before posting. isle2isle 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2010 Thanks Catrina, but that still is not quite what I am looking for. When I try and view a contributor's individual profile all I see is a username followed by the post excerpts. I do not see where a user's profile info (full name, URL, description, etc) is publicly displayed other than in a sidebar widget I have installed. I would like for that personal info to be displayed immediately above the post excerpts, but I don't know how to do that. Sorry to be such a newbie!!
catrina 103 Report post Posted November 13, 2010 Ah, I see. By "above the post excerpts", do you mean that you want the info to be displayed between the post title and excerpt text? Also, would you like to remove the "by *AUTHOR NAME*" text or leave it there? Please read the docs before posting. Please do not private message me unless I ask you to. isle2isle 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2010 That doesn't bother me so much. Is it possible to modify an author.php template from, say, twentyten, and drop it somewhere in the file structure and have it work? (But I don't know where I'd put it).
catrina 103 Report post Posted November 14, 2010 It might be possible. Have you seen any example of you want on any other blog? Please read the docs before posting.
