Sharebar, other options?

I was wondering if there was any word when the option to disable the karma button from the share bar will go live? (of course, I'm assuming that's in the works...)

To be honest, I'm absolutely dreading having to have to explain this feature to my team because I know it will fall flat.

If this isn't/won't be in the works for the forseeable future, can anyone recommend some other 3rd party sharebar plugin in that works with DMS? I've tried using the obvious ones like AddThis which nearly broke one of my sites...any feedback would be great!

Please see this post on how to remove the karma button http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/33866-post-layout-has-give-karma-button/?hl=karma

The answer to many issues can be found by searching in the forum before posting as someone else  may very well have had the same problem before you have.  Also, reading the documentation can help you gain a good understanding of how everything works.

Hi Martin Davies , just to confirm, doesn't that get rid of the author meta data only? I'm talking about the Sharebar. In the options for Sharebar you and disable Facebook, Pinterest,Twitter, etc from view but not karma.

I tried some other code like:

 .pl-social-counter .pl-social-count {
display : none;
}
.pl-social-counter .pl-social-icon i {
    display: none;
}

but that gets rid of everything.

This has been asked a few times and is relatively easy.

remove_shortcode( 'pl_karma' );

add_shortcode( 'pl_karma', '__return_false' );

Just add to a child theme functions file.

Yeah sorry - my bad

Simon's answer is the correct one. Sorry for wasting your time.

Yes, I've seen this before, thanks Simon_P, I tried making a child theme before however that really didn't work very well for me. The point I'm trying to make though is that one shouldn't be forced to create a child theme to do this. Removing Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest can be done from the editor, why not Karma?

I'm still wondering through if anyone has any other suggestions on other social media bars that are compatible with DMS?

In my opinion, if you want to add some custom styling etc.. then you should always use a child theme. You also don't need to create your own, I've done it for you, anyone can use my simple child theme, which you can download from here - http://dannyholt.github.io/skeleton/

There are tons of Sharing plugins our there, JetPack as far as I am aware even includes on, so you could try that. I can't give you a specific plugin to try as I don't use sharing plugins.

Some that I know of are:

http://wordpress.org/plugins/addthis/

http://wordpress.org/plugins/share-this/

http://wordpress.org/plugins/shareaholic/

http://codecanyon.net/item/ultimate-social-deux/6556073

http://codecanyon.net/item/easy-social-share-buttons-for-wordpress/6394476

Be careful with the ones from Code Canyon, as you will have to purchase them and I can't not guarantee they will work with DMS.
