Nav Sub Menus Falling Behind QuickSlider

Recommended Posts

pcorey

Hi,

Upgraded to DMS2 today on a site I've been working on over the last month. Three quarters of my CSS customization went out the window from the DMS1 to DMS2 upgrade so I've decided to give it another go. I'm eating about 20 hours worth of work to do this. Please Pagelines, I've been using your products for sometime now and these radical upgrades are killing my client relationships. Can we make these upgrades a little less dramatic?

I've killed almost all of my non Pageline's Plugins, and removed all custom CSS. Why are my drop down menus falling behind the QuickSlider? Where did the original controls on the QuickSlider go?

http://simsburylandtrust.org/site/?page_id=32

Thanks,

Patrick

Hmmm...drop downs on nav appear correctly when in fixed section but not in header.

I have the same issues after upgrading to DMS 2.03.  I have a Quickslider below a Navbar and drop down Navbar menus show up behind quickslider.  Pagelines please fix as soon as possible...Navbar above quickslider worked on the prior DMS release.

AEP - What version of DMS are you using, as I am unable to recreate this in DMS 2.x and the NavBar section - http://cl.ly/image/2m1O2a1m2l3q

pcorey - Same as above, I am not encountering this issue with the Navi section - http://cl.ly/image/0w2S1q313X0O

I fixed this bug using instructions below:

----------------------------------

@"AEP" - Add the following to your custom CSS, this will be a bandaid until a fix has been included in an update.

 #site .dropdown-menu {z-index: 1555;} @"pcorey" - I am not encountering this issue with the Navi section - http://cl.ly/image/0w2S1q313X0O

Thank you!

Yeah I added that code at first, which resolved the issue on your site. However, I then edited my post, as on my test site running the latest version of DMS, I was unable to recreate it. Both the Navi and NavBar section dropdown menus appeared on top of the QuickSlider.

I'm using Nick's base theme and am currently at 2.0.3 for DMS. I'd like to give Navbar a shot but can't figure out how to get rid of the little white triangle on top of the drop downs. If anyone has this solution I would love to hear.

Here is the site I was working on.

http://simsburylandtrust.org/site/?page_id=7

Ended up using Nick Haskin's Crackbar but would prefer to start using Navbar as it's looking like Nick does not plan on continuing to support it. Found this post today http://forum.pagelines.com/topic/33525-crackbar-and-dms2/

Thanks Danny for the fix. Now how do I get rid of the triangle on top of the drop down box?

pcorey -  The Navigation you're using is called CrackBar and was developed by Nick Haskins, who no longer supports his PageLines product, as far as I am aware. So you would probably be best switching to a core navigation section.

Also, you will probably want to switch from Nicks base theme and use either your own or the basic one I created from here - https://github.com/Dannyholt/Skeleton

Thanks Danny. Will use your base theme instead. How do I get rid of the triangle above the drop down menu? I could figure how to style everything else.

You can do this by targeting the caret class (arrow) and then using the display: none; for example,

.caret {
display: none;
}

Just FYI +1 on the built-in nav bar dropping behind the QuickSlider. The provided CSS work-around does work but shouldn't be necessary with a two built-in elements. You can see it fixed on this dev site: http://dev.hoffmangraphics.com/ THANKS!

sheilahoff - That work around I provided was only because two users were having issues with the navigation drop down menus falling behind the QuickSlider. However, I am using the latest version of DMS 2.x on several test sites and I have yet to encounter the issue. So I can't report it as a bug when I am unable to recreate it on a vanilla installation of WordPress and DMS.

Therefore, the likely cause has to be something on those users websites, this could be a plugin causing a conflict with the z-index of the navigation drop downs or custom CSS added by the user.

I have the newest DMS2 installed. I have no CSS using z-index except the work-around I added. I suppose it's not worth the effort to try to troubleshoot as long as it's working. But there's definitely something going on. The OP had it all working until he upgraded to DMS2. So that would lead me to think the issue is in DMS2 not his plug-ins. But whatever. Much bigger fish to fry.

Can you tell me what Navigation you're using and how you have it positioned please and which template area you have the QuickSlider. As on my vanilla installation, I have tried the Full Width NavBar and Full Width Navi sections in the Fixed Template Area. I then added both the QuickSlider and RevSlider and in both tests the drop down menus appeared above the Sliders. I was unable to recreate the issue.

I'm using the full-width built-in navbar with full-width display and QuickSlider in one of the 2 columns below. I've since added a Highlight between the navbar and the slider so I probably could eliminate the z-index, I haven't checked. I'm updating one of my old dev sites from DMS1 to DMS2 so I can see if I can recreate this there. It's currently using CrackBar but I'll change it.

batman... I had already found and implement that fix, but thanks. I removed the fix so Danny could SEE the issue in the video. He was not finding a way to replicate it and therefore didn't think it was a bug.

sheilahoff - I have now been able to recreate it the issue, basically, if you add the NavBar or Navi section to the header area, you encounter the issue. However, I was adding the both Navigation sections to the Fixed Template Area, where the issue doesn't happen. Therefore, I have reported this to our tracker.

The issue also exists when using the ubermenu section, the dropdown menu is hidden behind the slider, you can see it here.

Have the latest update of DMS 2.0.6

I have updated the tracker with a link to this topic, so our developers can understand what sections are having issues.

Hi. Is there any answer/update/solution to this yet? I encounter the same problem, the dropdown menus falling behind the Quickslider. The recommended fix works, but I would still like to know. Thanks.

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Using navbar section with correctly configured WP menu to display main navigation at https://elenaangel.com.
All fine in desktop viewport. Menu displays twice in hamburger mode. How to fix this please?
