Fixed menu

Recommended Posts

Lisa Haran

I just installed the new DMS and am really disappointed to see that you only have one area where a menu can be "fixed"

It was my understanding that this new function would be included in the new edition.

The reason why the current "fixed" function does not work for me is because my main top menu will have 2 columns and I usually use the header to style my menu accordingly BUT i need my menu to be fixed so is there another way around this.

Also are there video tutorials online showing the new features DMS2 has to offers as it is hard to see how the section "area style and scrolling" really works.

Thanks

Video tutorials are forthcoming to the user guide,.

If i am understanding yo correctly you are disappointed that the new fixed header does not allow you to have two columns? is this correct?

Hi martin,

I thought that any menu you selected to appear that you could have the option to make it fixed.

The new fixed header does not allow for any additional customisation as you can do is add a logo and the menu, you cannot add columns, if for example you wanted a social menu above the menu items.

If you are using DMS 2 you can add section to the Fixed header on the template rather than make the nav menu fixed http://screencast.com/t/w12tsQ5WBQTg

Not 100% sure what your image is referring to..

Have you selected the nav as fixed nav? If so, just add the nav section to the fixed section on the template as in my screenshot - you can add anything you like then and not just the nav.

hi martin,

the image i supplied you with is how I want my fixed header.

row 1 is a social menu

row 2 main links menu

in the fixed header you can only select one menu.

You mentioned I can add a section to the fixed header. I  tried to add a column to the fixed header and cannot add anything to this area.

ok so I see you can add a navigation section to the fixed header but as my top menu is a social menu and it is a custom menu this doesn't work.

Usually in the header I could just add columns and place widgetized areas in, also in the header you can anything.

In the fixed header you can only add the navigation sections

I played around with this a bit and tried moving a cloned section into the fixed header area as I could not see how to add a blank section.

So this worked.

Then I dragged the sociallinks into the new section and publish, than save as template called fixed header.

All good so far.

However anytime I make a change on the page itself, the the sociallinks disappear from the new section in the header.

Can you tell me why this is?

so screen grab here when I have two sections in the fixed menu

This is what it keep reverting back to despite having saved, then published

      Hi
      I have a map here http://www.iloveoffset.com/maps/
I want to add several pointer locations to the map, but when I do they do not appear.
On this map there are 2 pointer locations and as you can there is only one visible.
Earlier today I added 7 and could only see 4 so there is something odd going on.
My theme is up to date

      Hello,
I've been having trouble unlocking the template section for past couple of weeks. When I try clicking nothing happens.
I've deleted my custom css and removed plugins. Im down to having only the following plugins:
      Akismet
      Contact Form 7
      DMS Professional Tools
      Pagelines Updater
      WooCommerce
It was working fine before i have no idea what's going on with it.

My DMS 2 site http://www.heart-stone.com/ will not save any new custom css... I can still edit templates and publish those but any custom css that I enter never saves.
All WP files, themes, and plugins are up to date.
Any thought about what might be causing this?

Is there a way to edit the custom CSS via FTP? I know I can edit the custom code in the Chrome editor but is there a file path I can use to find and edit the CSS directly from our FTP?
Thanks in advance for the help!
