Problems accessing DMS and updating my sites

Recommended Posts

rarpia

I have 1 domain: forodefotografos.net + 3 wordpress/DMS installations in separate folders under that domain: forodefotografos.net/sevilla ; forodefotografos.net/argentina ; forodefotografos.net/viajes

Everything worked smoothly for months but the problems started a few weeks ago. I didn't do anything major to any part of the websites.

wordpress/DMS installations working correctly are forodefotografos.net and forodefotografos.net/viajes/

http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/ and http://forodefotografos.net/sevilla/ ARE NOT WORKING.

I used to access the login pago on these sites by going to http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/wp-admin/, now that gives me a blank page.

If I login via: http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/wp-login.php it then takes me to http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/wp-admin/ which is a blank page.

When I go to the live site when logged-in http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/ DMS opens but I cannot make any changes. Nothing gets saved and under the DMS tab I get the message "  PageLines account not added or incorrect.

Add account to configure PageLines APIs, karma system and store access."

SAME EXACT ISSUES FOR http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/ AND http://forodefotografos.net/sevilla/

Thanks!

Hi there,

Usually if the editor becomes unresponsive and saving wheel goes round and round this will be due to a plugin/script conflict. Looking in the error console the only thing I can see is an error relating to a facebook application - http://screencast.com/t/eCQREx4Z64. Did you update any plugins recently?

If you're unable to get into the admin area for the sites, the easiest thing to test would be to rename the plugin folder via ftp or your hosts cpanel, this is will disable the plugins so you can see if you can get back into the Wp admin area. You could also try downloading the latest version of DMS, your site is using 1.1.4 at the moment, the latest is 1.1.7. Upload this via ftp to overwrite the existing DMS folder with the latest which has the latest code and bug fixes.

Hi,

I tried all your suggestions but the problem is still there.
At this point I'm inclined to delete and re-install everything from scratch. For these two sites is not very complicated since they are only informative.

Can you guide me in how to export the content on the pages so I don't have to re-do that?

Thanks!!!

ONE MORE THING!

Since I'm not able to DEACTIVATE the licenses on these two sites that I'm going to delete and re-create, I don't want to lose those two licenses... how do I deal with that?

Thanks!!!

Hi there, you won't loose any licenses. Do you want me to remotely deactivate the key on http://forodefotografos.net/argentina/ and http://forodefotografos.net/sevilla/ for you from here? Make sure you @message me if you do so I see the response.

Before deactivating the licenses I would like to export/save the content I have on the pages so I can't import it when I do the new install... is there an easy way to do that? Can you guide me?

Thanks!

Hi there, to export the content in your page/posts go to the tools tab from the wp admin area and click on the export options, select all and then download export file. This will save to your computer.

To export your PageLines DMS settings, go to the DMS control panel, global options > import/export, select all and hit download config.

In the new site, upload the page/post content via the tools > import.

To upload the dms settings go to the DMS control panel, global options > import/export and select the json file you downloaded and import.

I cannot access the wp admin area, remember?

That's one of the reasons why I have to re-install everything.

Is there any workaround to the WP export?

Thanks

Hi,

If your wp-login is just appearing as a white screen i.e. white screen of death, this is usually a PHP error. Which is usually caused by either a plugin or custom code which isn't correct.

I recommend you navigate via FTP to your sites root folder where all your Wordpress files are and open the wp-config.php file, then find the WP_DEBUG function and set this to true. Save the file and then navigate to your wp-config.php file again, hopefully some errors may be printed which can be used to diagnose your issue.

Is there anything you have done to these sites prior to receiving the error such as updating plugins, adding custom scripts or code, updating Wordpress, adding hooks or other custom functions ?

If not, then it could well be server related and your host has made some changes which has had a negative effect on your site.

I think I did update WP before it stopped working.

I did what you suggested but I see no errors printed :(

You've since re-installed the core Wordpress files again as per our first contact, so that url should now have a new version of WP and DMS installed, so if anything was wrong in the original update, when you uploaded the new versions via ftp this should have been resolved.

Next step as you don't have access to the wp admin would be to ask your host to check the error log to see if any messages are presented in there. They could also do a backup of your Wordpress DB remotely for you. Worth asking if they do a roll back service as well, some hosts allow you to roll back to a previous version of a site, say a month, week ago etc. See if you can roll back to just before you noticed the problem to see if that reinstates the site.
